MCU an Interface
for Telecom & Industry
Remote Monitoring Features
Via the RS232 interface on the MCU the system can be remo-
tely monitored. The MCU has an automatic call back function.
In alarm conditions, the MCU sends a complete protocol
(analogue values and alarms) to a central control station. This
remote monitoring can be achieved via different IT solutions:
The most common method used today is to connect the
MCU via a telephone modem to the control station. For this
application analogue- and GSM AT-modems are used.

Additional measurement:
• individual rectifier current
• total rectifier current monitor display and service display
• total battery current
• battery temperature

Basic measurements:
• load current
• load voltage
• additional current or temperature

Basic monitoring:
• high voltage
• low voltage
• battery fuse
• mains
• rectifiers

System reliability:
MCU is not used to control the modules, therefore all of the
rectifiers continue operating at their own present values if the
MCU fails. In this case MCU will raise an alarm.

Using network-technologies
Today more and more network-technologies are used,

and availability is usually defined by the customer’s telecom
network. Benning has developed an embedded PC-system as
an interface between the MCU and an Ethernet network.

Using this system the

Internal TCP/IP-Network-Server
allows together with the Benning TEBE-MCU Monitor.net
software to monitor the sites via a TCP/IP network.
This combination monitors and shows the protocol similar to
the standard Benning Monitor software just by adding
Server-IP-Addresses, Server-port and Server host names.

SMTP-Mail-Client
is sending automatically e-mails to different addresses in
case of receiving a new protocol of the MCU. These e-mails
include four files, three are .html- files, which can be read
with an Internet browser, and the normal MCU file which can
be read only with the Benning Service or Monitor software.
