September Egg Production Down 2 Percent from Last Year

Egg production in Mississippi totaled 115 million eggs during September 2018, down 4 percent from the previous month
and down 2 percent from September 2017. Hatchery supply eggs contributed 78.8 million eggs to total production
inventory.

Average Layers Down 1 Percent from Last Year

The number of layers during September 2018 averaged 5.52 million, down 1 percent from the previous month and down
1 percent from this time last year. Egg production per 100 layers averaged 2,078 eggs, down 3 percent from the previous
month and down 2 percent from a year ago.
