This remarkable, record-breaking LinkedIn group discussion is a credit, first and foremost to the SMITH Magazine’s Six-Word
Memoir project and bestselling book series [http://sixwordmemoirs.com] and secondly to the wit and wisdom of scores of tal-
ented Writing Mafia members. The eBook chronicling it, offered free to the LinkedIn community, would not have been possible
without the impressive contributions of literally hundreds of Writing Mafia group members over the many months of develop-
ing and continuing life we have experienced with this thought-provoking challenge: sum up your life, your overriding attitude,
your raison d’être, in a mere, and exact, six words.
A few things should be noted at the outset. First the concept of the six-word memoir is not new, and neither was it ever in-
tended to be ground-breaking in that manner. My initial post of the discussion challenge mentions some of its history. How-
ever, it was indeed new to the Writing Mafia community, and they responded in the most splendid style. Further, the names and
contributions herein presented are neither in alphabetical order nor in strict chronological sequence of their discussion thread
appearance. Editorial considerations came into play in these factors, as well as in the omission of some offerings that have been
deemed worthy, but perhaps slightly off-topic.
All that being said, we are confident that you will discover here a wealth of contributions that provide perceptivity, insight--and
some pure entertainment value as well.
The “We” above, of course, applies to all contributing Six-Word Memoir participants and group members at large, but perhaps
most especially to Josée Lafleur, the highly skilled Writing Mafia discussion contributor who has functioned as our indispensible
technical advisor and editor throughout this entire endeavor.

To be is to do too!

In retrospect, perhaps it is not so surprising, the extensive array of impressive and though-provoking rejoinders: the group is
composed primarily of professional writers, publishers, editors, and many others directly involved in, or extremely close to, the
fields of fiction, nonfiction, blogging, reviewing, and the like.
And perhaps also it may serve as a clarion call to future discussions. Can there be another such, a discussion task that fires the
thought and imagination so that not dozens, but hundreds of responses result, and the life of the colloquy astounds with its
vivacity and staying power?
This eBook is free to the Writing Mafia community. To make a contribution of your choice, which will
go entirely to Kim Auclair, eBook creator, as she offered her services at no cost, please click the contribution link below.
