BODY POSITIVITY

LO VING YOU
IS THE GREA
RE VOLUTION
AL L TIME.
On Earth, we have constantly been
reminded about the idea that only
certain bodies and certain charac-
teristics are deemed to be worth
accepting. Body positivity is a move-
ment brought out to reverse this idea,
and instead recognise that everyone
i s e q u a l l y a s va l u a b l e a s e a c h ot h e r.
It’s about making decisions based of
what makes you feel good and healthy
rather than over-working yourself in a
fitness routine which you hate to get a
“ p e r f e c t b o d y ”. I t ’ s a b o u t u n d e r s t a n d -
ing that everyone deserves to live in a
body and receive no rude comments, or
reduced economic opportunity or even
inadequate health care. It’s working
towards a world where no body is a tar-
get, hopefully on your planet you don’t
have to experience such bad quali-
ties however if you do here are some

and it is easy to get mad at yourself.
Especially when we see something
that represents going backwards-in
r e g a r d t o p e r s o n a l p r o g r e s s . Being

ATEST
body positive involves having lots of
self-aware conversations with yourself
about your body. Sometimes our wires
get crossed and we forget to check in
with our bodies, failing to recognize

down and recognise the aspects of
your body that you love. When you
actually get to it, more than likely, you
will find that there is actually things
about your body that you love despite
the initial thoughts of negativity.
The worst thing about body shaming
is how industries profit of our insecu-
rities. It’s no shock now to all of us
on earth, that the clothing industries
edit the models photos to benefit
their sales. However it is still hard to
forget that our icons, probably don’t
look the same in real-life. This is be-
cause from when we were young these
images have been thrown at us con-
stantly, it has now got to a stage that
we now internalise them as real and
attainable bodies . This, of course,

benefits the diet industry / plastic

surgeons and more. Body positivi-
ty is about working toward a world
where everyone can live in their bod-
ies as they please while receiving
the same respect, representation,
and opportunities as everyone else.
So explore why you feel the way you
do about your body, decide based on
those factors what the correct de-
cisions are for you, and be kind and
empathetic toward — and consistent
in your defense of — other bodies,
and you’re off to a good start.

On earth, unfortunately your gender
determines how much you get paid.
This is an “equality” problem and
feminism is a movement which fights
against the gender gap within pay. As
when you take the average pay of a
woman and an average for a man it is
not unlikely to see quite a difference
between the two.A gender pay dif-
ference is not illegal but is a form of
discrimination essentially, as it infers
that males are stronger within job
roles when compared to women.

Due to women earning significantly

lower salaries, this means that they
often fall into poverty when they are
divorce or become widowed.A lack of
financial independence prevents some
from leaving abusive partners. Poli-
cies and workplace norms that make it
easier for men to split parental duties
equally with their partners can tip the

their children they can be anything
when they grow up and they shouldn’t
be limited because of the gender they
were born with.

To h i g h l i g h t s o m e s p e c i f i c n u m b e r s ,
bearing in mind we sent this booklet
to you in 2018. According to IWPR re-
search, if the slow progress to equal-
ity continues to change at the same
slow pace as it has done for the past
fifty years, it will take 41 years—or
until 2059—for women to finally reach
p ay p a r i t y. Fo r wo m e n of c o l o r, t h e
rate of change is even slower: Hispan-
ic women will have to wait until 2233
and Black women will wait until 2124
for equal pay. Women are almost half
of the workforce , don’t be Earth .
IS 2018 • WH

We have a lot of activists on Earth,
who fight against all the problems we

in British politics uniting people of all
genders, ages, backgrounds, ethnic-
ities, beliefs and experiences in the
shared determination to see women
enjoy the same rights and opportuni-
ties as men - so that all can flourish.
Equality for women isn’t a women’s
issue. When women fulfil their poten-
tial, everyone benefits.

Not only is the pay a problem between

genders but medical necessities is

isn’t taxed. On the other hand, tam-
pons, which women use on a monthly
basis to prevent bleeding out, still
get taxed. Unfortunately essentials
for women are not considered with
the same amount of care. This might
be because only nineteen percent of
the government is made up of women,
which seems odd as nineteen does
not represent the fifty one percent of
females there is living in America.

I hope to whoever is reading this has a

much fair and equal society/ communi-
ty than what Earth has or had. That is
, of course, if there are genders in the
planet you come from. It is a problem
that shouldn’t be repreated.

Free the Nipple is a feminist mis-
sion on earth which aims to reclaim
women’s bodies, sexuality, and
safety at a time when all are under
a t t a c k i n v a r i o u s w a y s . To c l a i m t h a t
women shouldn’t have the right to
be topless when men do is to put the
burden of women’s safety and socie-
ty’s well-being on women’s breasts,
as if the public is simply too delicate
to handle seeing nipples. We live in
a culture which impulsively tells us
women and men that females body
are exclusively sexual at all times..

Breastfeeding is a separate but

still related issue in regards to the
movement. But even defenses of
breastfeeding in public or posting
photos of breastfeeding expose the
problematic assumptions that wom-
en’s breasts shouldn’t be seen. In
public situations it isn’t unusual for
a breast-feeding woman to be told
to “cover up” while breastfeeding.
Which is bizarre really considering
the fact that the reason nipples are
a part of a female’s anatomy is to
breast feed to their child as babies
require nutrients from the milk.
People of Earth need to stop glorify-
ing breasts, in order for them to be
respected. Even in 2018, a woman
cannot walk down a street topless if
she wants to. It should be a wom-
an’s right to choose how she wants
to represent her body to the public.
This shouldn’t be decided by anyone
else. The choice should be made eas-
ier by a reduction of fear , society
and people should not judge or react
any differently to when a man walks
down the street topless.Breasts
should be whatever a woman wants
them to be..
