Minutes of Transylvania University Panhellenic

October 22nd, 2018

CALL TO ORDER:
The regular open meeting was called to order by President Caroline Briggs at 5:30 pm in
Conference Room A. The roll was called by Vice President of Administration Olivia Beutel.

Alpha Omicron Pi
● Boo Ball and Boyd’s Orchard this Saturday, the 27th!
● We had a mini COB recruitment this weekend with six women in attendance. We will be
voting on these women soon, hopefully.
Chi Omega
● Big Little reveal was last night, congratulations to those who picked up!
● Fall Field Day, Wings for Wishes, is on November 11th.
● Our national consultant is here from October 31-November 3rd.
Delta Delta Delta
● Barn Dance is October 27th!
● Water Wars is being held on November 2nd.
● Initiation is on November 9th.
● Slating is on November 10th.
Phi Mu
● Last Friday was Big Little reveal, congratulations to those who picked up!
● Sisterhood retreat is being held on October 28th.
● Initiation is on November 11th.
● Carnation Ball is set for December 7th.
OFFICER REPORTS:
President
● New social media woman Megan wants to develop a Panhel blog! We will be sending
her things for this in the future.
● Bylaws revisions are in November. When they are done, they will be sent to you to vote.
Slating will be 2nd or 3rd week of November and the slate will be done before Christmas
break.
● Talking with Chrissi about potential service event with TEAL in November.
 ● We will be planning a sisterhood event soon. Two ideas are possibly sponsoring a
family as Panhel community where each chapter will be responsible for a child and then
we could have a wrapping party or possibly a self care event. There will be a poll sent
out to vote.
● Ashley Hill just got back so I will talk about Green Dot with her, however, you do have full
calendar year to complete this. TIPS training with Michelle or Kevin Fisher is also being
planned.
Executive Vice President
● Just picked Jr Panhel and are currently trying to find a time for everyone to meet.
● Congrats to Karisma Keeton, Lindsey Steffen, Meredith Hartman, Benton Patrick, Paige
Lemaster, Railey Abell, Sydney Klingensmith, Sophia Narramore, Eden Smith, Courtney
Gabbert, Ambria McCowan, and Ally Simpson!

● Greek Stereotypes PPT:
o All Greeks do is party
▪ We regularly volunteer in the local community, tutoring in the ACE, and
lead student organizations.
o Greeks pay for their friends
▪ Dues go to maintaining the wellbeing of each chapter and allow us to
have things such as philanthropy events.
o Once you go Greek you can only hang out with people in your chapter or other
greeks
▪ We strive to be inclusive and diverse. In addition, IFC just held an all
campus cookout this past May term.
o Greeks aren’t intelligent
▪ All Greek GPA is higher than the TU student GPA.
o You’re going to be hazed if you join a Greek organization
▪ Hazing is NOT tolerated at Transy and Panhel and IFC will deal with this
seriously.
o All Greeks look the same and are the same
▪ All chapters are very diverse and are connected by our values and
passion for the community.
● THIS IS NOT A CERTAIN CHAPTER OR A FEW CHAPTERS, THIS IS EVERY
 CHAPTER. If inappropriate panhellenic contact continues, there will be mediation
meetings happening to solve the issue. This is NOT okay and they are not
supported by our Panhellenic community. If you feel comfortable and have heard
something, report it to Caroline or Michelle.
