CHAPTER 5

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

5.1 Conclusion

The simulation results have been successfully achieved. The knowledge

gained from the start of creating a model, drawing until the analysis of the concept

design has indicated areas in which the three phase linear generator can be further

improved. Involve Lua scripting into FEMM to calculate a numerical and integration

part by part and to solve the force and voltages problems.

The magnet length, air gap, magnet height, and tooth width designing factor

has been performed in the three phase linear generator optimization. The optimization

improves the three phase linear generator performances over a suitable range of

power. To reduce the cogging force between the core and permanent magnet, the

length of the permanent magnet or the air gap length is reduced.

Finally, the objective is achieved because it has been successfully simulated

and it gives sufficient outcome.

5.2 Recommendation

The three phase linear generator still has a room for improvement. Some future

recommendations will improve its performance to achieve high induced voltage, less

cogging force and better functionality. These recommendations are:

i. Further optimization on components and dimension.

ii. The three phase linear generator integrated with a linear engine.

iii. The prototype can be built and tested for real investigation.

iv. Use the newer version of FEMM software.
