AADHAR DRY SNACK’S BUSINESS


Aadhar is a community based organization of the people living with
HIV/AIDS (PLHA). In order to help its member and to become a self supported
organization, Aadhar has started a business of selling packed Dry Snacks. It aims
at selling this packed food to the common people of Ahmedabad initially and then
to cover a larger market. This snacks are repacked and distributed by the members
of Aadhar. Whatever revenue is generated out of this business is used to help
PLHA. Aadhar uses this revenue in various activities which provides Nutritional,
educational, medical and social support to the PLHA. Main goal of Aadhar is to
provide self help opportunity to the PLHP. By undertaking such profit making
activity Aadhar aims at providing self help opportunities to its members.

Business goals
The main goal of Aadhar is to increase the Morale and to create an
environment where they can protect their rights and live a respectful life. For this,
they aim at developing their Dry Snacks business and become financially strong so
that it can become a self supporting organization and can support its members
socially and economically.

Business Model
It aims at selling the Dry Snacks packed by the members of the Aadhar.
They are selling around 25 different varieties of dry snacks. They are planning to
cover different parts of Ahmedabad by developing different selling points or by
developing a distribution channel. They aim at penetrating in the local market for
its packaged Dry Snacks. For this they may have to face competition from various
regional and local brands. They need to develop a better pricing, distribution and
marketing strategies.
The Business model of Aadhar Dry Snacks can be outlined as below:

Setting up restaurants, canteens and providing tiffin supply


services.

Aadhar wants to develop itself as well known brand managed by HIV/AIDS


infected people. In order to develop itself as a popular brand and to make this
venture a successful one it would adopt several strategies. This would include
deciding upon various distribution channels. It would decide upon whether to go
for 1 level, 2 level or 3 level distribution channels. It would decide upon the direct
selling strategies. Deciding on this strategies would help them to successfully
operate the business.
Key Activities
Key activities of Aadhar would include selecting their suppliers, packing and
repacking the prepared snacks into different packet size, designing attractive
packaging, deciding upon the price, supplying the goods to the distributors or
directly selling the products.

Output
Over a period of time Aadhar will be able to develop a good distribution channel
and maintain long term relationship with these channels. It will be able to cover a
larger market than what it is able to cover at present. It will be able to sell its
products directly to end consumers by setting up their own selling outlets. Thus, it
will be able to successfully increase its volume of sales and achieve the economies
of scale and economies of scope.

Outcomes
This venture would be help Aadhar achieve its main goals. Aadhar’s main goals
include increasing Morale of the people living with HIV/AIDS. It aims at
providing the environment where they can protect their rights and live a respectful
life. This venture would provide them a high standard of living. It would help to
reduce the discrimination towards the PLHA.

Long term goals


After the success of this venture, Aadhar aims at achieving its long term goals.
Aadhar’s long term goals include starting up restaurants, canteens and providing a
tiffin and meal supply services. For this Aadhar will need higher capital
investments and more capacity, which will be achieved by this venture, over a
period of time.
