Subject: Flash Butt Welding of Rails using Mobile Flash Butt Welding Plants. The matter of Flash Butt Welding of Rails in situ has been considered by Board (ME). It has been decided that in situ Mobile Flash Butt welding of Rails will be permitted subject to the following safeguards:- ‘i 1) QAP for the Flash Butt Welding Machine to be duly approved by RDSO; 2) QAP for welding for every site to be prepared and approved by concerned CE/CON in consultation with CTE of the Railway; 3) Adequate training of workers and supervisers of contractor and department supervisers to be ensured by Dy.CE(CON); and 4) 10% test check by Dy.CE/CON.
