Create the Crank Shaft Drawing
 Open the crankshaft drawing
Create the Crank Shaft Drawing
 Check the layer tree and make sure the surface layer is turned

 Double click on the scale at the bottom of the screen set the value to 0.800

 Click on the Show/Erase button
 Click on the
dimension,
and axis
buttons
 Select Part
and View
 Select the
view shown

 Highlight the dimensions shown, click OK
 Click Close

 Rearrange the dimensions as shown on the next slide
 To move a dimension left click and drag the mouse
 To change the orientation of arrows right click while dragging (for
instance, to change the arrows from inside the dimension leaders or
outside)
 See example below

 Right click on the axis shown below and select Properties
 Change the Type and enter A for the axis name
 Place the Datum in the 0.5 dimension
 Click OK

 Click on the Add Geom Tol button on the toolbar
 Select the cylindrical tolerance
 Click Select Entity and select the surface shown highlighted below

 Click Place Gtol and select the dimension highlighted below
 Click on the Tol Value tab and change the tolerance value to 0.01
 Click OK

 Click on the Add Geom Tol button on the toolbar
 Select the total indicator run-out tolerance
 Click Select Entity and select the surface shown highlighted below
 Select Leaders as the placement type and place the dimension as
shown below

 Click Place Gtol and select the dimension highlighted below
 Click on the Datum Refs tab and set the primary reference to datum A
and set the condition to MMC
 Click on the Tol Value tab and change the tolerance value to 0.001
 Click OK

 Select File-Properties-Drawing Options
 Search for tol_dispay
 Change the value to yes
 Click Add/Change
 Click OK
 Select Done/Return

Edit the properties of all of the dimensions


and change their Tolerance mode to
Nominal
Edit the number of decimal places to reflect
the values shown on the next slide
Make sure that the three dimension which
you calculated tolerances for have the
correct values

 Click Insert-Sheet
 Type the parameters at the command prompt as before
 Click on the New View button
 Select General-Full View-Section-No Scale-Done
 Select Full-Total Xsec-Done
 Pick an arbitrary point for the view placement
 Select the FRONT saved view as the orientation, click OK
 Select Create-Planar-Single-Done
 Enter A for the cross-section name
 Highlight the FRONT datum plane as the sectioning plane
 Middle click to finish the view

 Add another general view with the Default orientation

 Right click on the isometric view and select Properties, change the
view display to No Hidden

 Right click on the orthogonal view and select Properties, change the
view display to Hidden Line

 Use the Show/Erase button to display the dimensions shown below

 Click on the Add Dimension button on the toolbar
 Highlight the line shown below, twice
 Middle click to place the new dimension

 Click on the Add Dimension button on the toolbar
 Add the dimension highlighted below
 Right click the dimension and select Properties
 Change the dimension to a Basic dimension

 Click on the Add Geom Tol button on the toolbar
 Add a placement tolerance for the rod bearing surface, see below

 Click on the Add Dimension button on the toolbar
 Add the dimension shown below
 Change all of the decimal places to the values shown below

 Right click the view shown below and select Add Cross Section
Arrows
 Change the page number
at the top to page 1

 Highlight the view shown below
 Save and close the Crankshaft drawing
