Our Hypothesis is that red cabbage juice will change color according to it pH level and when the red
cabbage indicator is mixed with other substances a physical change will occur in these solutions.
pH
Red cabbage is a type of cabbage know as kind of cabbage, also known as purple cabbage, red kraut, or
blue kraut after preparation. Due to the fact that red cabbage contains a pigment called anthocyanin, it
can be prepared to be a homemade indicator to get a general idea of the pH of different types of solutions.

Materials
Sodium bicarbonate, commonly known as baking soda, it’s a chemical compound with the formula of NaHCO₃. Sodium
bicarbonate is a white solid fine powder. It is a combination of elements which are -
Vinegar - Is a liquid consisting of about 5–20% acetic acid (CH3OOOH), water, and other trace chemicals, which may
include flavorings. The acetic acid is produced by the fermentation of ethanol by acetic bacteria.
Lemon juice
There is no specific formula for lemon juice, as this liquid is a mixture and not a singular compound. Lemon juice is made of
water, citric acid, vitamins and minerals, each specific compound having its own chemical formula.
● Water -(H2O)
● Citric Acid -(C6H8O7)
● Vitamins -(Lemons contain vitamin C, flavonoids, B-complex vitamins, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium,
phosphorus, potassium, and fiber)
Tap Water
Tap water running water, city water is water supplied to a tap valve. Its uses include drinking, washing, cooking. It has
existed since antiquity but was available to very few people until the 19th century when it began to spread in the countries.
Data
Our conclusion is that it did change colors with different solutions and or mixtures. The red cabbage indicator did change
colors according to its pH level.
