MINI PROJECT JUL 2018 CHEMICAL PROCESS PRINCIPLES (CLB 12004/CLB10904)

CHEMICAL PROCESS PRINCIPLES (CLB 10904/CLB12004)

MINI DESIGN PROJECT

1. RULES AND REQUIREMENT:

 The mini project duration is for 2 weeks.
 The final report must be compiled and submitted on 8 November 2018.
 Individuals are required to work with the grouping, as decided and only 1 report will be presented
for each group (MAXIMUM 4 Members).
 This mini design project will count as 15% of the final grade. (10% Reports & 5% Progress Report)
 Submission of progress report (logbook-hardcopy) need to be submitted starting from 25 October
2018 onwards. It is compulsory for ALL.
 Each student in the group must assign themselves as Student 1, 2, 3 or 4 and this cannot be
changed throughout the project.
 Students are encouraged to discuss and share information. However, DIFFERENT reports
are to be submitted and groups who are found to submit similar work with other groups or
from past submitted projects will be severely PENALIZED.

2. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
 The main objective of this mini project is to APPLY THE CHEMICAL PROCESS PRINCIPLES for
the case study as given below.
 The project requires an initial literature review on process background which includes the product
and its recent production technologies.
 The analysis and calculations can be executed using MICROSOFT EXCEL or any software deemed
suitable.
 The production rate is determined as 130,000 MT/year.
 For Material and Energy Balances, handwriting is permitted for the calculations.

3. REPORT FORMAT
 Cover Page
Appropriate title name (production quantity), Names, Section and ID. Please insert the WORK
DISTRIBUTION FORM after the front cover.
 Executive Summary
Summarize the important details of each chapter. It must be specific, clear and convincing.
 Table of Contents

1
