CEO Letter

The purpose of MEMP is to be the premier

resource for medical professionals in the Middle
East providing useful articles, job opportunities,
education, and events through the magazine and website.
MEMP will have a special focus on the latest digital
advancements in medicine, surgery, and healthcare in
general. Why digital? The Middle East is not restrained
by old legacy systems, so the region could adopt the latest
digital advancements with minimal healthcare politics and
depreciation/amortisation issues. This all means that within
the next 5-10 years if you, or your loved one, wanted to receive
the best possible care you might no longer be thinking of the
UK or US but one of the GCC countries. When I talk about the
best possible care I do not mean the hospitals that are more like
5-star hotels or where the worlds’ best human doctors practice,
but where the medical community have got over their human
ego and come to accept that the best care is the AI augmented
doctor. The leading edge of medical education and research
now know that the robots will not be taking over soon and AI
alone is not the solution. However, neither are us humans with
our limited (versus cloud) hippocampal memory chips and
pre-frontal cortex CPU’s (versus AI and ML). The best possible

I should have taken heed of

the Socratic paradox that ‘all I

publicly expressed to the scientific and
medical community that ‘There are

as the majority of the big brains of

This is a non-trivial occurrence.
Because there are many tasks that are
performed in healthcare each day by

of healthcare – the diagnosis, consists of
pattern recognition and algorithms,
both of which are superior strengths of

from this is that the changes are
occurring much more quickly than I
realised, not only in the development of

With the continued failure to cure inoperable and metastatic

are not only physically and emotionally exhausting to patients

traditional chemotherapy are further exacerbated by the
recent evidence that it does not appear to improve the quality
of life of patients with metastatic cancer, and that current
anticancer drugs appear to facilitate the spread and growth of
