done to make it so that developers outside of Netscape could get default tool set

from Edgeworks and be able to build Macintosh client Uh this needed

complete reworking of the way we build things so Scott Collins started around

midnight and he

night this morning called me and

said he was done However when actually went to go and check it there were

rnultiple things that he had missed in the of checking in so thats what

process

since time is it

now uh its eleven oclock so urn Ive been working worked on it for like

The only thing we want to be careful about howard is not showing..

Describing the tree at various stages last night starting...right now its all

green hut it wasnt earlier in the evening z.z iS

Uh thats right Urn while was working on the Macintosh stuff at around 1000

another engineer in another building uh was checking in some changes to uh to

make the deadline and in doing so he only checked in part of his changes SO

what happened was is that urn he...the build on all the platforms broke and so

what did was ..do you want rne to...do what happened here is that um took

look at this and noticed that the entire tree was essentially in flames and that

means the builds are busted And so gave the engineer call and then later on

that evening about an hour and half later he found his mistake and checked it in

and got everything working

And its been green ever since

goodness

going on right now There was yesterday was particularly bad day for urn

for check ins because we were all trying to make the dead line But then think

most sane people went home And was the only one that was here last night so

that there wasnt much...

So lets have recap of where we are

TH Yes today is come to Jesus day Um last Friday was supposed to be the day

when we were under 120 bugs We missed that um we werent even close on lot

these huge pulls we needed take have happen

that to Urn Monday we sort of

went into huddle and we went into this 24-7 coverage mode Urn when you get

towards the end of any kind of release for software development the release team

gets more and more important its an exponential increase um so since Monday

we had about 132 active bugs urn about 4500 unsigned files Um over the last

days we brought that down to 21 bugs and about 700 unsigned files Urn which is

fantastic but were still not quite making todays deadline Well probably finish

this
up over the weekend and into Monday However today we can actually

generate our first round package test to see what it looks like and start able to
being

hand some of this stuff off to some spot checking Um and there were just some

there were some amazing Herculean efforts to get it this close That many bugs

dropping in that is
many days pretty good considering the level of the bugs that we

were fixing Massive changes to the build structure Urn theres one more set

thats still coming but think weve set up in such way that it wont be too

painful And think that we do have good chance of making Monday or Tuesday

next week which not bad slip considering the tirneline that were looking

stuff The hostage list the Lloyd generates actually has lot more its very

conservative guess is what Im trying to say Theres lot more in it that its

worried about than it should be So that will probably never actually go to and

thats OK But the bug list theres this magic phrase that Michael Toy invented

when we were doing 4.0 development which is Zoro Boogs Which is its not

quite perfect but its perfect enough Zero bugs Zoro Boogs so the bug the bug

when we and well know

documentation that needs to be completed is how to build it Whats the tool set

whats youve environment whats the system requirements yadda yadda yadcla

Urn and so well be running around doing that and and in addition to that little

tweaks that we need to make to the tree or to the build process or things that we

discover um based on the Beta that

goes out You know it will be time to fix that
