Dear Sir or Madam:
I would like to give my highest recommendation to Alyssa Abler, an applicant to
your new graduate RN program, whom I know would be an excellent addition to your
staff. Ihave no doubts that she embodies the knowledge, abilities and personality needed
to excel at any hospital in the country.
Based on an outstanding background and not just a desire to work for us, but to
improve her skills and knowledge, we hired Alyssa to work for a summer internship this
past summer. Her position was as a medical assistant where she functioned as a floor
nurse working one on one with a physician on a daily basis. This is where most of our
procedural work like giving vaccines, drawing blood, running lab work is done. It
quickly became apparent that she is one of the brightest and most competent people we
have employed. If this had not just been a summer internship we would have gone on to
train her to handle phone triage and work in our office based lab doing high complexity
testing.
To give you a little background on our practice and myself, I am a pediatrician at
Pediatrics $280 in Centennial, Colorado, Pediatrics 5280 is made up of eleven physicians
and three midlevels, with an estimated practice of 15,000 patients. We are a very busy
practice and depending on the time of year each of us sees 20 to 30 patients a day.
Alyssa was never intimidated by the busyness of our practice and had the confidence to
jump in and participate in an active positive fashion daily. She was not fazed by anything
that happened or by any of the physicians she was working with. Very early on it was
clear she had an excellent sense of humor and the confidence and courage to handle not
only all of the tasks we had her do, but the physicians she would be working with on a
daily basis
Thad Alyssa as my assistant on numerous occasions, and looked forward to those
days as she is not only fun to work with, but I had complete faith in her ability to care for
my patients with any of the tasks she was given. She is always professional, but beyond
that she had the natural ability to make our patients very comfortable while they were in
the office. She obviously wanted to learn more and daily she focused on asking questions
not just about her job, but also about why we do things the way we do them. She has the
personality that is ideal for being a nurse - honesty, integrity, extremely organized, a
terrific sense of humor, thick skin - and I have the confidence to put her in charge of
anything and know for certain it will be done correctly

her dedication to the field of health care, This included volunteering at Brent's Place
near the Children’s Hospital Colorado Campus with her family. Brent’s Place is a home
away from home for patients and their families receiving long term care, including cancer
treatment. During her time at the University of Arizona she also volunteered with Make
A Wish. In my opinion she has proven her desire to be in the medical field to be real. 1
know for a fact she has always wanted to work in Pediatrics and she would be
phenomenal in the ICU or Oncologic setting, her two main interests. This is a slight
disappointment to me as I would hire her back here at Pediatrics 5280 in a heartbeat.
Alyssa was certainly an integral part of our office in the short time she was here,
but she has so much more to offer if given the opportunity. She would most certainly be a
nurse I would trust with the care of my family in the future. I respectfully ask you to give
her a chance; I am certain she will not disappoint you. I would be pleased to discuss any
questions you might have. Thank you for your consideration
Sincerely,
« (Calagts
