If Two Nonvertical Lines Are Parallel, Then Their Slopes Are
Advanced Geometry
Part 1:
1. Go to geogebra.org/classic
2. Make a line. Then, make a line that is parallel to your original line.
4. Click the cursor tool and drag around one of the points on your original line and observe
what happens to the 2 slopes as the lines move.
Part 2:
7. Make a line. Then, make a line that is perpendicular to your original line.
8. Display the slope of both lines. Rename the slopes to m and n (click with two fingers on
the slopes to rename them on your Chromebook)
Now the value of p (shown on the left side of your screen) represents the product of the
slopes of your two lines.
10. Click the cursor tool and drag around one of the points on your original line. Observe
what happens to the two slope values, and also what happens to the value of p, as the
lines move.
