IF YOU ARE A 7th OR 8th GRADER AND CAN SWIM IN THE D ​ EEP END WITHOUT HELP,  
THEN YOU CAN BE ON THE TEAM! 
*this is a learn-to-compete program, NOT a learn-to-swim program* 
 
 
Here’s what you need in order to join the team: 
 
- a current physical (see the school nurse if you’re not sure if you need one) 
 
- The attached forms SIGNED by b ​ oth​ you and your parent/guardian 
***Bring these completed forms back by the first day of practice, Tuesday 11/13*** 
 
- A bathing suit (one piece for girls) 
- A swim cap (your preference) 
- Competition goggles 
 
- Commitment to all practices and meets (see provided schedule) 
* We understand that students have other activities going on (ex: religion classes, doctors 
appointments, ski club, etc.) However, excessive absences will affect the athlete’s 
participation in meets and overall improvement. 
 
 
 
Here is some other important information: 
 
- To be eligible to swim in our first meet, you must attend a minimum of 10 practices. There 
will be 20 practices held before the first meet (Wednesday, 12/12). 
 
- We practice Monday-Friday, Saturday practices are optional but STRONGLY encouraged. 
Please see the attached practice and meet schedule. 
 
- Student athletes are required to attend a study table during 12th period.  
**NOTE our practices start at 4:30 or 5:00 everyday. There is NO BUS to bring you back 
to the school for practice and NO BUS to take you home after practice. Carpooling is 
a great option!** 
 
- You must meet the school’s eligibility requirements. If you are failing two or more classes, 
you are not eligible to participate in practices or meets until you are passing these classes.

- Practices may be cancelled (we use the app Remind 101 to notify parents/guardians of 
these changes; you will sign up for it at our parent meeting) 
 
- If you cannot attend a meet, please arrange to pick up your swimmer at the Middle 
School by 7:00 for home and away meets. 
 
**Tuesday Nov 13th will be a walkthrough of the pool from 5:30-6:00 followed by a 
parents meeting at 6:00. We will NOT be going in the water. 
 
***The mandatory parent/guardian meeting will be held on Tuesday Nov 13th at 
6:00pm in the Middle School cafeteria. Please make all efforts to be in attendance, as 
further important information will be discussed.
