Precision penetrameters conform rigidly to the various specifications and code requirements.
Identification of size, type and material is positive. Lead numbers and letters are permanently
bonded to the penetrameter. Material and code information is permanently etched on the
face of each penetrameter. Penetrameter material is indicated by distinctive color code. Sharp,
smooth edges, with accurate, perfectly spaced, cylindrical holes, give the technician every ad-
vantage in obtaining clear, well defined images on the film. Custom penetrameters available

Portable Units

Portable Magnetic Inspection Units

The DA-750 and DA-1500 heavy duty portable magnetic inspection
units provide high output AC or HWDC fields for magnetic particle
inspection. Field selection is determined by using the appropriate
field cable connector. Current output is infinitely variable from zero to
maximum by use of the current control located on the front panel, and
is indicated by the panel meter. Actual current output is determined
by cable size and length. The AC field is also beneficial for demagne-
tizing after inspection.
P-Series Portable Power Packs
Find surface discontinuities with AC current; switch cable connec-
tion to HWDC for detection of near-surface discontinuities. The
Magnaflux P-70 and P-1500 Portable Power Packs are ideal for large
or heavy parts, in-service mobile equipment, or job-site welds. De-
magnetize your parts in AC mode by slowly turning the current dial
to zero. All Magnaflux power packs include built-in automatic-reset
circuit breaker.

shaped parts. These handheld
electrode sets are convenient for
conducting sectional inspections of welds, castings, forgings and

cable hookups make it easy to test large and oddly shaped parts that

Magnaflux A / ADH / AD Series Copper Braided Contact Pads

The Magnaflux A-2030, ADH-2045 and AD-2045 are our most econom-
ical standard wet bench units. They offer great particle mobility for
finding surface and sub-surface defects, and the versatility of using
AC or DC magnetization (except A-2030). The two outputs are inde-
pendently adjustable to set each magnetic field, circular or longitudi-
nal. Magnetization shot time is adjustable, allowing better develop-
ment of indications.
Copper braided contact pads prevent arc burn by helping maintain
proper electrical contact between test parts and contact heads.
Available Copper Pads Include:
• Replacement copper pad - 4 ¾" x 7 ½"
• Copper Braid Contact Pad – 4 ¾" x 10 ½"
• Double-Braided Pad with V-Block. Heavy copper braid provides
contact over greater surface area. Built with neoprene, the V-block
base centers and supports test parts. The pad can be reversed to
provide two wear faces. Fits all units except A-915 and the smaller
MAG Series units.
• Double-Braided Pad with Clip. Same performance as the V-Block
but clips over headstock of A-915 and smaller MAG Series units.

Magnaflux MD Series
The Magnaflux Multi-Directional units are the most versatile standard
units. The MD Series offers time savings multidirectional magnetiza-
tion for finding defects in all orientations with one cycle. The two or
three outputs are independently adjustable to balance the magnetic
field intensity, and each output offers AC, HWDC or One Phase FWDC
output. The user can mix and match current types while adjusting

except magnesium and magnesium alloys which should be pre-
treated before use.
Sonoglide FE
Sonoglide FE is an environmentally benign, Silicone-free cou-
plant specially formulated for ferrous metals where short-term
corrosion is a concern. It contains a ferrous corrosion inhibitor
with a relative effectiveness rating of 75, is slow drying and will
remain stable on corroded or salt covered surfaces. Operating
temperature range: -60º to 250º F.
Sonoglide UP
Sonoglide UP couplant is compatible with titanium, aluminum,
copper, stainless steel, plastics, many magnesium alloys, and
many composites. It is the perfect choice for applications where
Halogens and Sulfur must be at a minimum and broad material
compatibility, slow drying and water wash removability are de-
sired. Operating temperature range: -60º to 250º F.
Soundclear
Soundclear contains humectants to slow drying and increase
acoustic impedance and has an operating temperature range of
20º to 200º F. Soundclear contains a corrosion inhibitor for steel
with a relative effectiveness rating of 45 and is compatible with
aluminum, titanium and plastics. It is not recommended for use
with magnesium.
UT-X Powder
UT-X Powder retains viscosity on salt caked boiler tubes, cor-
roded pipe, structural steel, steel billets, plates and welds. It pos-

Inspection Labels
Inspection Point Labels are specially designed to identify Thickness
Measurement Locations (TMLs) on non-insulated piping and ves-
sels. Our UTL2 and UTL3 inspection labels have protected write-on
areas for recording TML numbers, line numbers, etc. Inspection Point
Labels are of soft tempered matte clear sealed anodized aluminum
foil. The anodizing process produces a coating that is sapphire hard,
transparent, static resistant, and integral with the aluminum surface.
The 3M #200 adhesive provides a strong bond on metal, plastic and
painted surfaces.
Available Inspection Labels Include:
• UTL1 – Labels are 1 ¾" elipses with ¾" diameter holes.
• UTL2 – Labels are 3" by 3" with 1" diameter holes, and ¾" by 2 ½"
