Mult-K Grafic
[1] Introduction
The Mult-K Grafic is a digital micro-processed instrument,
to be installed on a panel’s door, allowing the measurement
of up to 101 electrical parameters at an alternate current
system (AC). The parameter reading can be performed
locally or remotely.
As an option, it can be equipped with a mass memory,
which allows the history storage of up to ten electrical
greatnesses with a minimum interval of 1 minute.
Complementing the successful Mult-K line, the Mult-K
Grafic incorporates new benefits like the programmable
LCD display, storage of minimums and maximums on the
proper instrument and new measurement parameters.
There is also the option of supplying the Mult-K Grafic with
special external current transformers (split core). Illustrative photo

Recommendations

• Recommended cable: minimum section of 1.5mm² for auxiliary voltage and supply.

• For current signal, the sizing depends on the distance and power of the CTs involved.

• The auxiliary supply (terminals 11, 12 and 13) must always be made according to the label affixed on the
instrument.

• In the case of utilization of the TOP SOURCE, the supply must be connected to terminals 11 and 13
respecting the characteristic limits, without the need of observing the polarization if the input signal is either
continuous or alternate.

• In the case of using external transformers, those shall be of measurement.

• The use of a PT (potential transformer) is unnecessary for voltages below 500 Vac (F-F).
• Never leave the secondary of the CTs in the open mode, do not use fuses or circuit breakers in series with the current circuit and do not
use the CTs with operation current above the permitted level. It is recommended the installation of an admeasurement block.
• The grounding indicated by dots in the diagrams are recommended for safety reasons and do not directly interfere in the instrument’s
measurement or accuracy.

intuitive the visualization of the measured electrical
parameters.

Besides its easiness of operation, Mult-K Grafic allows
L2
221,1 V
the user to configure through its own MMI or through
software RedeMB5 the customized screens, including
L3
220,8 V
combinations of measured greatnesses. The user can
configure up to three customized screens, using three
distinct predefined models.*

TYPE 1 CUSTOMIZED SCREEN: Screen with three measurement parameters

Characteristics

• Up to three greatnesses May be defined.

• The frequency (4th parameter) is always shown.

Usage example: measurement of voltage + current +

power

TYPE 2 CUSTOMIZED SCREEN: Screen with one measurement parameter and bar graph

Characteristics

• Greatness must be defined.

• The frequency (2nd parameter) is always shown.
• Besides the greatness value, a bar graph is shown and
has its scale automatically updated.

Usage example: measurement only of phase 1 voltage,

in replacement for an analogue voltmeter.

TYPE 3 CUSTOMIZED SCREEN: Screen with six measurement parameters

Characteristics

• Six greatnesses must be defined.

• The frequency (7th parameter) is always shown.

Usage example: test bench or other applications where

it is necessary to indicate various parameters at the
same time.

Additionally, the user can also configure the Display contrast thru the MMI (digital adjustment), as
well as invert the operational colors (reverse mode).

Ultimately, still is possible to define the instrument’s MMI language (Portuguese or English),
adapting the instrument usage to any type of market or final client.

*Energies and Demands cannot be configured on customized screens.

Mult-K Grafic
[13] Mass Memory (optional)
Application: It is a non-volatile memory (the data are not lost in case of lack of auxiliary supply), which
allows to record the historical behavior of up to 10 (ten) electrical greatnesses.

The mass memory of the Mult-K Grafic can be configured with a minimum interval of 1 minute
and maximum interval of 540 minutes (9 hours), and the time for filling the memory will depend on the
quantity of greatnesses chosen and on this storage interval.

The information is stored in a floating point format, 24 bits, containing its date and time, originated
from an internal clock existing on the multimeter.

• Type: non-volatile memory (retentive)

• Capacity: 512 kBytes
• Storage mode: circular (when memory capacity is exhausted, older data is erased to write
new data, by sectors) or linear (when memory capacity is exhausted, data stops being stored).
• Quantity of greatnesses possible of being stored: 1 to 10 greatnesses
• Minimum interval between writings: 1 minute
• Maximum interval between writings: 540 minutes (9 hours)

The stored data can be collected through a serial interface, utilizing CLPs, data concentrators,
supervisory applications or software NetworkMB5 (freely supplied). This software permits to export the
information to a text file, with no formatting (text – “txt”), facilitating the composition of graphics using
Excel, for instance.

The table below contains the maximum information quantity that can be stored, varying according
to the number of selected greatnesses:

Examples of time to fill the

Quantity of
Total of registers memory for a 15 minutes
greatnesses
interval (in days)
1 58236 606
2 43677 454
3 34940 364
4 29118 303

7 19405 202
8 17470 182
9 15877 165
10 14559 152

Through the MMI (man-machine interface) it is possible to configure and verify the mass memory
parameters such as:

Mode: Circular or linear

Configured greatnesses: 1 to 10
Space used from memory in percentage

Mult-K Grafic
[14] Special External Transformers
With Mult-K Grafic, it is possible to use special external current transformers of the split core type.
This allows the installation to be performed without the need of disconnecting the main power.

Split Core

Besides the easiness of installation, they have reduced dimensions, facilitating, for instance, its utilization on
locations with space limitation. There are two models for fixed use:

Model 1:

Transformers that must be used in a fixed way, that is, the clamp should not be opened and closed many times
as this might change the measurements.

Maximum Current

80Aac

120Aac

160Aac

Model 2:

The clamp can be opened and closed up to 50 times without resulting in measurement changes.

Maximum Current

120Aac

200Aac

300Aac

Considerations and Recommendations

The special external transformers must always be connected according to the phase indicated in
the label For instance, a transformer with inscription “PHASE A” must only be connected to
inputs “.Ia” and “Ia” from the meter. The procedure is analogue for phases Band C.

Each instrument is supplied with its own set of these transformers and there is no way of using
another one, even if it has the same nominal current value.

NEVER DISCONNECT THE SPECIAL EXTERNAL TRANSFORMERS FROM THE

METER WHILE THEY ARE CONNECTED TO THE LOAD.

THE REMOVAL OF THE CONNECTIONS IN THE ABOVE SITUATION WILL CAUSE

DAMAGE TO THE METER AND HIGH SAFETY RISKS.

NOTE: The maximum cable length that connects the special external transformers to the meter
terminals is of 1 meter.
