CHAPTER 3: METHODS AND SOURCES OF DATA

METHODS OF STUDY AND SOURCES OF DATA

This chapter presents the method and procedures employed in this research. It

incorporates the research’s methodology, population of the study, instruments in

gathering the necessary data, and its treatment.

Research Design

This study will be a descriptive survey method. Descriptive research is a study

designed to depict the participants in an accurate way. More simply put, descriptive

research is all about describing people who take part in the study. This type of research

will describe what exists and may help to uncover new facts and meaning. The purpose

of descriptive research is to observe, describe a document. This involves the collection

of data that will provide an account or description of individuals, groups or situations.

Instruments we use to obtain data in descriptive studies include questionnaires,

interviews, and observation.

This paper will attempt to determine the the perspective of students towards K12

program. It will not just aim to come up with a single explanation of the new curriculum,

but rather to draw up knowledge and understanding based on the perceptions of

students.

Selection of Respondents

The responds will be based from the students of the Upper BEd of the College of

the Holy Spirit of Tarlac. The students will be carefully examined based on what they
think towards the given topic. The students are randomly composed of boys and girls.

Only enrolled students of years 2015-2016 will be answering the questionnaire.

Research Instrument

The researchers will prepare some questionnaires to determine the point of view

of the upper bed students towards the implementation of k-12 program. This will be

base from the indicators such as the respondents, the preparation of students to the

new learning system and the family for the financial aspect.

The questionnaire is about the perspective of the upper bed students towards the

k-12 program and these questions will be answered accordingly.

The research will ask the learners to check their preferred answer to the given

questions based on their personal perception along the given area.

The researchers will also follow the certain procedures in conducting of this

study. We will choose a certain title. We must find a tittle for our study and defend it on

panelists until it is approved. After the distribution of the questionnaires we will validate

it and will analyze the gathered and formulate the conclusion and recommendations of

this study.

Validation of the Instrument

The statements in the questionnaire will be taken from the pilot testing that will be

answered by the selected students enrolled in the College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac.

The students will be given open ended questions concerning the perspectives of the
students towards the K-12 curriculum. The answers that will be derived will serve as the

statements in the questionnaire.

The validity of the instrument, it will be pilot tested to selected students from the

upper bed in the College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac. The respondents were chosen by

the researchers for the purpose that they are the ones who are affected about the topic

and they have more observations than the lower grade levels. The results that will be

used in the questionnaire will be checked by the adviser. The adviser will approve the

questionnaire. The validation will lead to better instruments and organized study.

Statistical Treatment

The data that will be gathered from the responses of students will be tallied,

tabulated and presented in tabular form. The data will be analyzed and interpreted

through the use of the following statistical tools.
