Process Work 5: Identity Reflection

After completing this writing assignment, it has shown me how the conflicts I have

encountered in life greatly weakened my religious and my political identity. Most of my work

was narrative until I started to reflect on my actions and feel nearly ashamed of them. This

writing assignment impacted me greatly and has motivated me to make a difference in my life

and return to my strong personality. The opinions of others and society shouldn’t impact me as

significantly as it did. I will from now on make the effort to never let someone pull me down and

belittle me and my identity again. I feel that I did answer the writing prompt to the best of my

ability. Even though I did not encounter such extreme discrimination or conflict in my life due to

certain identities or characteristics I portray, I feel as though I did complete the assign as asked of

me. The processes I used for this assignment mainly relied on the Process Work assignments that

were given in class. For my rough draft, however, I mainly just did a free write to get everything

down unorganized but still all in the same area. After that I organized the paper and then deleted

any unnecessary work or repeated phrases. The I added on the direct back towards the main

question to conclude my essay and summarize. Then I simply added or altered detail and

transition sentences to add more flow to the paper. I noticed by the end of my essay that I would

repeatedly reflect at the end of my paragraphs after explaining the conflict I went through and the

choices I made due to the conflict.
