PERTANDINGAN CHORAL SPEAKING SEKOLAH MENENGAH DAN SEKOLAH

RENDAH PERINGKAT NEGERI KEDAH 2018 SECARA PEMILIHAN TERBUKA

Dengan segala hormatnya saya diarah merujuk perkara di atas:

2. Sukacita dimaklumkan bahawa pada tahun ini, Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Kedah
dengan kerjasama Jabatan Penerangan Negeri Kedah akan melaksanakan program di atas
untuk peringkat negeri. Pertandingan tersebut di atas akan diadakan berdasarkan pemilihan
secara penghantaran video rakaman peringkat sekolah.

3. Sekolah yang telah melepasi saringan video ini akan diberikan sijil penyertaan dan 8
pasukan terbaik akan dijemput untuk bertanding di peringkat akhir pada hujung bulan oktober
nanti. Pertandingan pada tahun ini mendapat kerjasama tajaan dari Jabatan Penerangan
Negeri Kedah yang menawarkan hadiah wang tunai keseluruhan berjumlah RM4,200.00.

4. Tema bagi pertandingan pada tahun ini ialah “I Love Malaysia” atau “Proud to be
Malaysian”. Bersama-sama surat ini juga disertakan syarat pertandingan pada tahun ini yang
diolah dan diubahsuai berdasarkan kehendak Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia. Semua
penyertaan hendaklah dihantar melalui borang penyertaan yang perlu diemailkan kepada
koakademikkedah@gmail.com sebelum atau pada 23 September 2018. Manakala
penghantaran video tersebut pula perlu dibuat sebelum atau pada 1 Oktober 2018 melalui
penghantaran CD atau muat naik ke Youtube.

5. Keputusan pasukan yang layak untuk menerima sijil peringkat negeri dan yang terpilih
ke peringkat akhir akan diumumkan melalui surat rasmi pada 7 Oktober 2018. Satu taklimat
akan diadakan kepada semua pasukan yang menghantar penyertaan selepas tarikh akhir
penghantaran borang penyertaan.

Kokurikulum Akademik , Unit Kokurikulum, Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Kedah boleh dihubungi

 CHORAL SPEAKING COMPETITION FOR PRIMARY & SECONDARY SCHOOL

Theme

The theme of the competition is “I love Malaysia” or “Proud to be Malaysian”.

Competition Rules

Eligibility
• This competition is open to all secondary students.
• Each Choral Speaking team is to come from ONE school only.
Time
• Each team is given a presentation time limit of 5 to 8 minutes. No marks will be
awarded thereafter.
Team
• Each team should comprise 20 – 30 students. A conductor should be appointed
from these students.
• Each team should be accompanied by at least one teachers-in-charge.
Material
• Selection of material is free and can be in the form of poetry or short prose in
accordance to the theme.
• Participants are not allowed to refer to any notes or printed materials during
the performance.
• Materials presented must not touch on sensitive issues, such as race, religion,
colour, personalities, etc.
• Copies of choral speaking texts must be submitted to the organizers two weeks
prior to the competition.
Attire
• All participants should wear school uniform when competing.
• Boys – white, short / long-sleeve shirts and blue/white long pants
• Girls – blue/black pinafore/skirt and white blouse / baju kurung
• Conductor: the use of gloves is allowed
• Ties, bows and jackets are not allowed

Prizes for Secondary Level

• Prizes will be awarded to the top winners only.

1st Place : RM 1,500.00, Trophy, & Certificate

2nd Place : RM 1,200.00, Trophy, & Certificate

 3rd Place : RM 1,000.00, Trophy, & Certificate

4th Place : RM 500.00, Trophy, & Certificate

• Certificates will be awarded to all participants in final and also qualified teams.

Prizes for Primary Level

• Prizes will be awarded to the top winners only.

2nd Place : Trophy, Medals & Certificate

• Certificates will be awarded to all participants in final and also qualified teams.

Registration

• The competition is free of charge, no registration fee is imposed.

• All kinds of costs such as transportation, preparation or any other related cost
should be borne by the school on their own.

Judging Criteria

• Performance of the team will be judged under following criteria:

i. Audibility
ii. Content (Script content must contain and comply the “I love Malaysia” or
“Proud to be Malaysian” theme in relation to Competition Rule)
iii. Enunciation (articulation & expression)
iv. Choral speaking techniques (variety, sound effects using body percussion
only)
v. Presentation (dressing, facial expression, interaction with audience)
• The competition will be judged by 3 judges (to be determined by Jabatan
Penerangan Negeri Kedah)

Penerangan Malaysia. Upon registration to this competition, the participants agreed to
comply with all the stated rules and regulations of this competition.
