Pagkain NG Almusal NG Mga Kabataan
Pagkain NG Almusal NG Mga Kabataan
Breakfast is defined as a meal eaten in the morning, the first of the day. This
kick-starts your metabolism, helping you burn calories throughout the day. It also
gives you the energy you need to get things done and helps you focus at work or at
school (WebMD, n.d.).
About 32% of school aged children leave the borders of their homes with an
empty stomach and an alarming 7% never eat breakfast on school days. The study
done among 4, 326 children of the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicated
that girls are more likely skip breakfast than boys. Boys usually reason out their lack
of time while girls call it a diet to avoid gaining weight (Campbell, 2010). As a further
matter, in America alone, about 31 million Americans or 10% percent of their entire
population do not eat breakfast (Huffington Post, 2017).
However, Mehdi (2015) opposes this with seven reasons to that a student should
not eat breakfast. One of the most striking is that fasting for 48 hours doesn’t impact
cognitive tests negatively. You don’t need breakfast for mental alertness. Secondly,
have breakfast to raise your blood sugar and control your insulin levels. Insulin is key
for muscle growth but is also responsible for fat storage.
Breakfast may not be considered the “most important meal of the day”, as found
recently by researchers in which they indicated that the best meal depends on the
“quantity and quality of calories consumed throughout the day”. However, it is still
essential for the growth and development of students (HealthMePA, 2017).
Additionally, ALBashtawy (2015) claims that breakfast supplies the body with
essential nutrients needed for the day’s activities. But, students and adults alike come
up with various excuses to skip breakfast. They often disregard the benefits that eating
breakfast can provide.
Moreover, there lies a wider scope of advantages. One of which is that, breakfast
helps high school students excel in both social and academic realms. (Clarke, 2018).
In addition, a healthy and complete diet boosts energy and improves cognitive
learning processes among Senior High School Students. Moreover, Breakfast is
widely acknowledged to be the most important meal of the day. Studies suggest that
Children who habitually consume breakfast are more likely to have favorable nutrient
intakes including higher intake of dietary fiber, total carbohydrate and lower total fat
and cholesterol (Deshmukh-Taskar et al., 2010). This implies that a complete and
healthy breakfast must be an essential part of one’s routine.
In conclusion, there are many reasons why breakfast should be considered as the
most important meal of the day. As Cloake (2017) asserts that there is a good deal of
consistency within different kinds of items that is being chosen to consume at the start
of the day. However, what we eat for our breakfast today is certainly very different
from what previous generations would have thought it appropriate to eat (Gitlin and
Ellis, 2012, & Severson, 2016). In fact, it would seem likely that there are differences
in how appropriate we find it to eat different foods at this time of day, as compared to
others, such as, for lunch or dinner, say. The decision about if and what to eat and
drink at the start of the day have some profound effects on our health, well-being, and
cognitive performance. Breakfast is very important and shouldn’t be ignored by
anyone. As shown above, there are evidences that healthy breakfast and/or having
breakfast is beneficial because students are able to remember things that helps them to
excel in academic performance, feel more energetic and will be full of vitality.
Students will continue to be unhealthy, hungry and unhappy if they continue to skip
breakfast. They will be stuck in a brain fog that will just suck them right into bad,
unhealthy habits ahead. As what this quotation implies that, “You are what you eat”.

pyramid, kabuuang carbohydrate at mas mababang kabuuang taba at kolesterol
