supportt  staff  for  movement  of  patientts  and  mob bilizing  the  medical  equipment.  Besides

O there  are  no  sysstems  or  mechanisms  to  raise 
these reequests and d track the ffulfilment.

The  situ
uation  was  no  differen
nt  at  Baby  Memorial  Hospital 
H (BMH).  The  technology  team  at 
BMH to ook this as aa challenge and implem mented a sim
mple and co ost‐effectivee solution. 

Ussing Bluetooth Low En nergy beaco on sensors aattached 

to
o  the  equip pment,  the  team  deveeloped  a  re eal‐time 
lo
ocation  mo onitoring  system  to o  track  all  the 
eqquipment.  Similar  to o  the  apps  used  by  cab 
aggregaators and foood deliveryy companiees, nurses caan now request for an equipmentt using a 
smart  phone. 
p The  in‐hospitall  handling  staff 
s gets  a  notificatio
on  request.  The  systemm  shows 
the  neaarest  equip
pment  and  assigns  it  to 
t the  requ uest.  The  nursing 
n stafff  can  mon
nitor  the 
movem ment  of  the  equipment  till  it  reacches  its  inttended  desttination.  Once  the  deelivery  is 
done  th
he  handlingg  team  conffirms  the  fuulfilment  sttatus  using  the  smart  phone  provvided  to 
them.
