EDC Messenger Bag

I prefer to carry a small set of EDC (“Everyday Carry”) supplies in a bag to provide me with various capabilities
during my daily commute to work. In the past, these items were stored in a backpack and were organized by using
color coded modules for the various categories of gear. The problem that I had with this approach is that it didn’t
work as a system with my non-EDC kits, which are also stored in a backpack (e.g., Get Home Bag, Bug Out Bag). I
can’t easily carry two backpacks. A few years back I made the switch to carrying EDC items in a single-strap sling /
messenger style bag. This makes it possible for me to also carry an emergency backpack at the same time (if
needed) and then leverage all of the individual gear as a system of supplies.

The following document provides a list of all items that are included in this version of my EDC Messenger Bag. The
hyperlinks will take you to the online site where I purchased the item from. Each item listing as a short comment
on why I choose to carry this item, such as what it’s functionality provides or also more information about the
quality of the gear. My kits and systems are always evolving, so this kit just represents a timestamp as to what it is
looking like at the time of creating this video. As the days and weeks go by, the items in this kit will change slightly

For the past several years I have been
using this messenger bag for my EDC
bag when commuting to work. It is
built extremely well and is an
absolute tank in terms of toughness.
Sometimes I carry two laptops, which
this bag has no problem handling. I
don't leverage the "Tactigami" velcro
system as the manufacture designed,
but I just love the quality of this bag
Storage $160 and highly recommend it.
This PPE (Personal Protection
Equipment) could be used to avoid
spreading or inhaling airborne
illnesses. It's flat design and
$20 (Pack individually wrapped package makes
PPE of 20) it easy for storage.
This is one of my most used items. I
am in constant need of extra power
during the day. Anker makes the best
portable charges. 10000mAh is a

This is my current favorite flashlight.
It's compact, plenty bright, has a
simple interface and is rechargeable.
Too big for EDC, but perfect for an
Illumination $60 EDC bag.
The Eneloop batteries are expensive,
but the best for Preppers. They're
rechargeable, hold their charge for a
Power $14 long time and are really high quality.

This is an item of what I like to call
Complimentary Redundancy. I
already carry a handheld flashlight,
but this headlamp compliments that
flashlight and provides me with a

This item is for building evacuation
during a fire. It is the thinnest smoke
mask that I have been able to find. It
is rated to allow for 20 minutes of
PPE / Emergency smoke filter effectiveness. Review

It's always good to have a map of
your local region. Since I work in
downtown Seattle, I carry a map of
Navigation $5 the Seattle region.
I carry this item on one of the zippers
of the messenger bag for quick
emergency access. Both the glass
punch and seatbelt cutter work great,

It's good to have methods for
gathering intel if your cell phone is
not functional. This is my favorite
tiny AM/FM pocket radio. It does
require the use of headphones (no
external speaker) but the quality is

This is a luxury item that is not
needed, but sure is nice! These are
the best nail clipper set that I have
been able to find. It's super
expensive, so I like keeping it with
me at all times. All of the items are of
extremely high quality. The cutting
tools are extremely sharp. It makes
grooming fun! My wife constantly
tries to steal these from me, but
Hygiene $90 they're mine! :)
I try to have an emergency survival
blanket in all of my kits So many
different applications of use. The
ones made by TITAN are the best
quality. These ones come in camo or
Shelter $5 even a signal panel design. Awesome!
This is my favorite portable
screwdriver! Made in Germany by
Wera, it is compact and stores all of
the necessary screwdriver bits that
you could ask for inside the handle.
This screwdriver comes in handy all

One day at work one of my
coworkers (Jake) asked me if I had a
hex wrench on me so he could adjust
his computer monitor. He probably
assumed that I did since I normally
have this type of gear in my bag. I
didn't! So I added this small,
expensive set. Wera makes some of
the best tools and bits on the planet! I
just can't go back to "Made In China"
tools. These Wera bits are what I like
to call Heirloom Tools; someday I will
pass them down to my kids. Made in
Tools $28 Germany and built to last!

I used this for on the go data transferring such as
when filming YouTube videos. This particular

Every once in a while I need to put something in
the mail and don't want to have to track down an

These scissors are super high quality and are an
upgrade when my Leatherman Multi-Tool
Tool $25 scissors just won't cut it (pun intended).
If you have glasses, always carry one of these to
keep your glasses clean. They work better than
Misc $6 using your shirt or other random cloth.
A standard HEX key that comes with certain
Tool FREE furniture assembly jobs. I like keeping one handy.
Simple USB flashdrive for moving data from
computer to computer. It's worth having it
encrypted if you want to store important files on

Again, this tool comes in handy when my
Leatherman Multi-Tool is a little too wimpy for a
particular cutting task. Also, I used this cutting

readers available for on the go data transfer while
$10 filming videos. It is used very frequently.
This is my favorite portable wall charger for my
electronic devices. It charges super fast and have good
indicator lights. Highly recommend all Anker
$11 products.
While I myself don't use Apple products, so many
others do. It's nice to have a method for charging one
$13 or transfering data.
These USB cables are my favorite due to their build
quality. They are made to last and the connection
$14 points don't break down as easily as cheaper cables.
I use this when in others veheciles (e.g., rental car) for

 Medical Module
This small first aid kit leverages a lot of modern wound dressings that are thin and high quality. Unfortunately,
these dressings are also fairly expensive so I try to reduce the overall cost by building these kits in bulk.
