    Assumed depth of foundation, D = 1.5 m

    Assumed Width of foundation, B =1 m

    Using IS Code 6403 -1981 formula:

    Nc’= 20.7 Nq’ = 10.7 Nγ’ = 8.11

    Net ult. B.C. = 1.3 c’ Nc’ + γD( Nq’-1) + 0.4 γBNγ’


    = 950 kN/m2

    With a FS of 3, SBC = 317 kN/m2

    Recommended Safe Bearing capacity is 32t per sq m with sand bed.
