EAST JAVA VARSITIES ENGLISH DEBATE (EJVED)

1. DESCRIPTION
East Java Varsities English Debate (EJVED) is the longest running and the most prestigious English debate
competition for varsities students in East Java. EJVED is one of the agendas of English Month held by
English Students Association (LEGATO) Universitas Negeri Malang. This competition has been successfully
conducted since 2002.

2. THEME
The theme of EJVED 2018 is “Outer Space”

3. TIME AND PLACE

EJVED 2018 will be held on:
- Friday, 23rd November 2018 (TECHNICAL MEETING)
Hall of Faculty of Letters (AVA) E6 Building Universitas Negeri Malang

- Saturday, 24th November 2018 (PRELIMINARY ROUND)

4. PARLIAMENTARY FORMAT
This competition uses Asian Parliamentary Debate system (3-on-3 tournament).

5. GENERAL INFORMATION
 Registration Date
EARLY BIRD: 27th August 2018 – 28th September 2018
LATE BIRD : 29th September 2018 – 19th November 2018

 Registration Fee
EARLY BIRD: IDR 600.000,- (1 Team + 1 N1 ADJUDICATOR)
LATE BIRD : IDR 650.000,- (1 Team + 1 N1 ADJUDICATOR)

6. REGISTRATION FLOW
 Each team reserves the slot to the TD (Iim: 0851-0404-9284).
 Each team is required to pay the registration fee as stated above.
 Each team is required to send the payment receipt via email to em.ejved@gmail.com
(SUBJECT FORMAT: TEAM/INSTITUTION/PAYMENT CATEGORY (EARLY BIRD/LATE BIRD)).
 Each team must fill out the registration form that is given after the payment has been
confirmed.
 All teams are required to re-register the teams on the Technical Meeting (23rd November 2018)
by showing student ID cards, letters of assignment, and payment receipt.
 The slot is only available for 50 teams.
 The teams can download the letter of invitation from bit.do/EJVEDINVITATION

7. REWARDS
 Champion: IDR 3.500.000 + Honorary Rotating Trophy of East Java Governor + Trophy
+ Certificates of Appreciation
 1st Runner Up: IDR 2.500.000 + Trophy + Certificates of Appreciation
 2nd Runner Up: IDR 1.500.000 + Trophy + Certificates of Appreciation
 Best Speaker: IDR 500.000 + Certificate of Appreciation
 Best N1 Adjudicator: Certificate of Appreciation

9. REGULATIONS
 Participants of EJVED are students of private or public universities through the whole of East
Java Province.
 Each team consists of three speakers and one N1 adjudicator.
 Each institution is able to register five teams in maximum.
 If there are any teams who withdraw, the registration fee cannot be pulled back.
 All adjudicator’s decisions are considered as final.
