Re: how much quantity of blocks, cement and sand is required to complete 1sq.

m of CC Hollow
blockwork. Size-16"x8"x8". Also what is the cement sand ration commonly used?
Answer
#4

1. the quantity of CHB required per sq.m. is equal to area to be filled divided
by the area of CHB
= 1 sqm / ( 0.4x0.2 ) = 12.5 CHB, approx. 13 CHB (16"x8"x8)
2. computing the mortar required using the density of 1 bag of portland
cement (1506 kg/cu.m) and density of dry sand (1602 kg/ cu.m)
* volume of mortar horizontal joint = 5row x 0.2m x 1.0m x 0.01m = 0.01cu.m
* volume of mortar vertical joint = 4row x 0.2m x 1.0m x 0.01m = 0.008cu.m
* total mortar required = 0.01 + 0.008 = 0.018cu.m
3. using the commonly used ratio for making a good mortar 1:3,
* quantity of cement required = 1/4 (density of cement x total vol of mortar) =
1/4(1506x0.018) = 6.78kgs
* quantity of dry sand required = 3/4 (density of dry sand x total vol of
mortar) = 3/4(1602x0.018) = 21.63kgs
