Electro cardio grame(ECG)

By:EZZ Eldeen
ECG
Definition :
is the process of recording the electrical activity of the heart
using electrodes placed over the skin. These electrodes detect the tiny
electrical changes on the skin during the cardiac cycle.

Heart electrical conduction system:

Electrical impulses from your heart muscle (the myocardium) cause your heart
to beat (contract). This electrical signal begins in the sinoatrial (SA) node,
located at the top of the right atrium. The SA node is sometimes called the
heart’s “natural pacemaker.” When an electrical impulse is released from this
natural pacemaker, it causes the atria to contract. The signal then passes
through the atrioventricular (AV) node. The AV node checks the signal and
sends it through the muscle fibers of the ventricles, causing them to contract

ECG Interpretation:
records electrical activity in the heart. An ECG machine records
these electrical signals across multiple heart beats and produces an
ECG strip that is interpreted by a healthcare professional.
Kinds of cardiac rhythm
Normal sinus rhythm:

Rate:-normal(60_100)

Rhythm:-regular

P waves:-normal

PR interval:-normal

QRS:-normal

Atrial fibrilation:

Rate:-atrial:350bp ;ventricular:slow or fast

Rhythm:-irregular

P waves:-not exist

PR interval:-non

QRS:-normal
Ventricular fibrilation:

.>Chaotic electrical activity no ventricular depolarization or contraction

> The amplitude and frequency of the fibrillatory activity can be used to define the type of fibrillation as
coarse, medium, or fine

Rate:-indeterminate

Rhythm:-chaotic

P waves:-non

PR interval:-non

QRS:-non

Ventricular tachicardia:

> QRS complexes in monomorphic VT have the same shape and amplitude

Rate:-100-250bpm

Rhythm:-regular

P waves:-non
PR interval:-non

QRS:-wide

Sinus tachicardia:

> Results from increased SA node discharge.

Rate:-fast

Rhythm:-regular

P waves:-normal

PR interval:-normal

QRS:-normal

Sinus bradecardia:

>results from slowing of the SA node

Rate:-slow

Rhythm:-regular

P waves:-normal

PR interval:-normal
QRS:-normal

Asystole:

Rate:-non

Rhythm:-non

P waves:-non

PR interval:-non

QRS:-non
