JUST IN: Presidential Spokesperson announces suspension of work in government offices in

Metro Manila, Region III and CALABARZON. #WALANGPASOK

"Upon the recommendation of the NDRRMC, the Office of the Executive Secretary has
announced that work in government offices in Metro Manila, Region III and CALABARZON is
hereby suspended."

“Upon the recommendation of the NDRRMC, the Office of the Executive Secretary has
announced that work in government offices in Metro Manila, Region III and CALABARZON is
hereby suspended,” the announcement from PTV said.

Several local government units have also announced suspension of classes in Metro Manila, the
provinces of Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal and in other areas.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and
Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Maring, spotted 135 km East of Infanta,
Quezon, has slightly intensified as it continues to move towards Quezon-Aurora area.

PAGASA said Gorio has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the
center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Maring is expected to bring more rain to the Philippines compared to Typhoon Lannie, because
of its forecast track.

It is moving west northwest at 11 kilometers per hour (km/h)
