    Sabah is divided into 5 administrative divisions - Kudat Division in the north, West Coast Division along the west coast, Interior Division in the south-west, Sandakan Division in the east, and Tawau Division in the south-east. Each division contains several districts, with Kudat Division containing Kudat, Kota Marudu and Pitas, and the other divisions containing between 4-7 districts each located within the geographic region covered by that division.
