Courses for each person requiring training are developed in accordance with Systematic
Training Development Processes. These courses are combined into a comprehensive training
program that is oriented towards job functions associated with the proposed equipment
configuration. The training programs utilize classroom lectures with audio/video training aids,
technology-based training (web, CD-ROM), and/or practical hands-on experience to assure
that students acquire theoretical as well as practical knowledge.

1.2 Alcatel.Lucent Training and Customer

Documentation Products and Services
Backed by the unparalleled knowledge and innovation of Bell Laboratories, Alcatel-Lucent
offers a wide range of information products and services, including:
 User Documentation
 Online help
 Alcatel-Lucent Product Training, including all supporting documentation
 Software Replication
 Software and Documentation Localisation

1.3 Training Delivery

A variety of options are available for customers in order to best fulfil their learning needs.

1.3.1 Instructor Led Training (ILT)

Note: The Instructor-led offering enables students to discuss critical topics in depth. In some
instances alternate media options are available for ILT courses as well.
 Traditional Classroom – provided at a Alcatel-Lucent Technologies Training Centre
typically offering hands-on lab exercises emulating a real-life environment.

 Dedicated Training – provided at a Alcatel.Lucent Technologies Training Center

dedicated to a single customer or group.
 Suitcase Training – delivered at a location of the customer’s choice, either at their
facility or other specified location, using equipment shipped from Alcatel.Lucent (if
applicable) or using the customer’s equipment at their training site. The equipment at the
customer’s site must be free of trouble, working, but not in service.
 Virtual Classroom - This is a traditional class delivered via WebEx or other similar
services, which allows for instructor facilitation over the Web or satellite broadcast,
allowing for better time-management while reducing travel related costs for training.

1.3.2 Alternate Media Training Delivery

 Computer-Based Training (CBT): Designed, developed, and administered by the IP
Creation/Development organizations, CBT courses offered by IP&T are interactive
training products that a customer can launch from his/her PC at anytime, regardless of
network connectivity. CBT courses offer a student a convenient way to learn pre-
requisite knowledge prior to attending Instructor Led Training.
 Web-Based Training (WBT): (also referred to as e-learning) is anywhere, any-time
instruction delivered over the Internet or a corporate intranet to browser-equipped
learners. There are two primary models of Web-based instruction: synchronous
(instructor-facilitated) and asynchronous (self-directed, self-paced).
