To Whom It May Concern

I am delighted to write this letter of recommendation for my wonderful student Sarah Gauthier who is
applying in your nurse residency program. Sarah is expected to graduate in December 2018. I had the
pleasure to be Sarah’s instructor in her last semester. I oversaw her in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
(PICU) where she was assigned for five weeks for her clinical preceptorship.

In capacity of her teacher, I found Sarah very passionate for caring of pediatric population. She is very
pleasant, hardworking, energetic and dedicated student who is always willing to learn and diversify her
clinical skill set. While she was assigned in the PICU, her preceptor was floated to the Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit for a few shifts. Sarah was very open to learn the neonate patient population and never
complained about being floated to another unit with her preceptor. Her preceptor found her nursing
skills to be highly satisfactory and her way of handling adolescent patient population is commendable.
She is very well versed with using EPIC system for Electronic Health Record documentation. In addition
to being a naturally compassionate, and caring person, she is highly dependable as her patient care
documentation was always up to date. She was never behind on charting on her patients. She has never
been behind on her deadlines for the assignments either.

Her communication skills with her patient, family members and coworkers were highly effective. She
took care of highly vulnerable adolescent patient population such as cystic fibrosis, post op patients and
a mute patient etc... She always acted as patient advocate and never hesitated to speak up for them.
She is very polite and updated patient’s family members about patient’s status whenever necessary in
an easy to understand language. I found Sarah as a team player. She would pitch in to help nurses on
her unit whenever she was available. I never saw her sitting around in the unit. She was always helping
her team which was highly commendable.

In addition to this, Sarah followed the charge nurse on the unit for 8 hours and learned leadership skills.

Sarah’s patient care and leadership skills along with her passion and commitment to the nursing
profession make her a fore runner for your nurse residency program and I strongly believe that if
recruited she will be asset to your unit and the organization. Please feel free to contact me if you need
any additional query regarding Sarah’s skills and qualifications.

Sincerely,
