CCSD @ Office of the Superintendent CLARK COUNTY INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM SCHOOL DISTRICT Date: November 27, 2018 To: Principals From: Jesus F. Jara, Superintendent of Schoo! Subject: January 2019 Reorganization In my previous memo to the Board of School Trustees and Cabinet members regarding Performance Zone Reassignment, | stated that more changes may be needed to better align school needs with school supervision. To that end, a reorganization of school supervision will take place immediately and some central services positions will take place with the release of our strategic plan. Changes related to schoo! supervision are described below. Schools will be organized into three geographic regions. Each region will be led by one region superintendent who is supported by two school associate superintendents, resulting a schookto-administrator ratio ranging from 35:1 to 39:1. Each administrator wil be supported by an administrative secretary. The four CCSD special schools will be supervised by a school associate superintendent who is also assigned supervision of the Student Services Division. | would like to congratulate Dr. Deanna Jaskolski, who has accepted the opportunity to fill this critical role in the organization. Special Schools Assigned to Student Services Division Miley Achievement Milller, John F. ES Stewart, Helen J. S Variety K-5 ES ‘Schools were grouped under consideration of the following criteria, in order: © Feeder alignment © Balance of school needs © Municipal boundaries Page 1of 5 Feeder alignment was strongly considered when determining region boundaries. Each region includes high schools and the primary feeder middle and elementary schools for each of those high schools. Magnet schools and Career and Technical Academies were included according to geography. The ‘Turnaround Zone will be disbanded and schools currently in the Turnaround Zone will be included in the three geographic regions. Turnaround support will be provided to schools from the Partnership Network, the region administration, and central services. The three regions were established to provide geographic and feeder alignment while reflecting. comparable demographics. ‘Municipal boundaries were considered when determining region boundaries. Schools in municipal Clark County and Las Vegas fall within all three regions. Schools in North Las Vegas are divided between ‘two regions. All Boulder City and Henderson schools fall within one region, as do all schools from Mesquite. ‘This restructuring will result in the reallocation of existing staff, though the number depends on which individuals are selected to ill the three region superintendent and six school associate superintendent positions. At a minimum, staff in the following positions will be reallocated: © 1 Director ‘© 2 Administrative Secretaries © 1 Coordinator Ii © intervention Specialist © 2 Project Facilitators © 1Office Specialist Il This latest reorganization will provide more consistent support and expectations to schools, which was a key theme that | heard loud and clear during my listening tour. ‘While cost savings was not the primary motivator of this reorganization, the changes could result in a cost savings of up to $1.5 Million in general and grant funds. The following positions will be advertised nationally and follow a rigorous interview process: ‘© 3 Region Superintendents ‘© 6 School Associate Superintendents © 1 Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum and Professional Development Division Page 2 of 5 Region 1 Schools Elementary Schools Allen, Dean LaMar ES Antonello, lee ES Bilbray, James ES Booker Sr. Innovative, Kermit R.
