Job Description – Program Director


• Stage Ai provides personal growth workshops of a psychological nature to individuals
and groups in conjunction with institutional partners, focusing in particular on the Chi-
nese community in the U.S. and abroad.
• The role of the Program Director is to manage the design and delivery of these psy-
chological workshops in accordance with psychotherapeutic principles.

Job Duties

Plan the Programs


• Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the business;
• Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful
outcome of the programs;
• Develop and design the delivery of the programs;
• Develop an annual budget and operating plan to support the programs;
• Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the programs and to
identify areas of improvement;
• Content-specific duties: Coordinate with current and prospective educational partners
to design suitable personal growth workshop experiences and recruit and select appro-
priate teachers.

Organize the Programs


• Ensure that program activities operate with the policies and procedures of the company;
• Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional
standards;
• Develop forms and records to document program activities;
• Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the program for
statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization;
• Content-specific duties: Coordinate with current and prospective event organizing
partners to review student recruiting materials and plan a psychologically supportive en-
vironment at the target venue, often working with Chinese-speaking partners.

Staff the Programs


• In consultation with the President, recruit, interview and select well-qualified program
staff;
• Implement the human resources policies, procedures, and practices of the organization;
• Establish and implement a performance management process for all program staff;
• Engage volunteers for appropriate program activities using established volunteer
management practices;
• Content-specific duties: Recruit teachers with psychology and personal growth training
as well as local event organizing partners who will be capable of conducting high-quality
psychologically-oriented workshops. Partners may be Chinese-speaking.

Control the Programs


• Ensure that the program operates within the approved budget;
• Monitor and approve all budgeted program expenditures;
• Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to the President
on a regular basis;
• Ensure that all financial records for the program are up to date;
• Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate
action to control the risks;
• Monitor program activities on a regular basis;
• Conduct an annual evaluation according to the program evaluation framework;
• Report evaluation findings to the President and recommend changes to enhance the
programs.
• Content-specific duties: Manage the delivery of the workshops and reporting on
results. Program delivery may involve participation onsite and possibly providing coun-
seling support to students and facilitating effective communication between students and
teachers, especially across cultural barriers (for example Western teachers working with
Chinese students).

Job Requirements
• BA or higher in psychology required, counseling psychology preferred
• Business-related degree including human resources preferred
• 3+ years prior event organizing experience
• Chinese language skill preferred
