DEADLINE ANCHOR MAINTENANCE


1. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
MEASURING TAPE / NOZZLE GAUGE / SST GAUGE
MARTIN DECKER FLUID
MARTIN DECKER PUMP
ADJUSTABLE SPANNER
ASSOCIATED PUBLICATIONS
LEVER
HAMMER WRENCH / HAMMER

2. SAFETY INFORMATION AND PRECAUTIONS


HOLD A PRE-JOB SAFETY MEETING.

DEADLINE ANCHOR MAINTENANCE IS NORMALLY DONE WHILE SLIP OR CUT


DRILLING LINE. TO BE CARRIED OUT UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE DRILLER/
TOURPUSHER/TOOLPUSHER.

TRAVELLING BLOCK MUST BE HUNG OFF FOR MAINTENANCE ROUTINE.

ENSURE PUMP AND W-15 FLUID IS CLEAN, BEFORE PUMPING UP


SENSATOR.

3. PROCEDURES
3.1 FOR SENSATOR ADJUSTMENT
1. REMOVE ANCHOR GUARDS IF APPLICABLE.

2. CHECK GAP ON THE SENSATOR. GAP SHOULD BE 5/8" AND CAN BE


MEASURED WITH A NOZZLE GAUGE , OR HAVE THE MECHANIC MAKE A
GAUGE FROM 1/8" STAINLESS STEEL 4" LONG X 1" WIDE WITH A 5/8" WIDE X
3/4" LONG SECTION CUT OUT AT ONE END AND A HOLE AT THE OTHER END
TO HANG THE GAUGE ON THE UNIT.

3. IF GAP IS SMALLER THAN 5/8" CHECK HOSES AND SENSATOR. ALSO


CHECK DRILLERS CONSOLE AT HOSE BLOCK AND GAUGE PIPING FOR
POSSIBLE LEAKS.

4. REMOVE PROTECTION NUT, INSTALL PUMP LOOSELY ON FITTING


AND FILL WITH FLUID. PUMP AND ALLOW A LITTLE FLUID TO LEAK AND
EXPEL ANY AIR IN PUMP. TIGHTEN PUMP AND PUMP FLUID UNTIL SLIGHT
MOVEMENT IS INDICATED AT THE WEIGHT INDICATOR GAUGE.

5. CHECK GAP, PUMP MORE IF NECESSARY AND BLEED OFF ANY OVER
PRESSURE AT THE LINE ANCHOR CHECK VALVE.
6. REFIT PROTECTION NUT.

NOTE: SENSATOR CAN BE PUMPED UP WITH BLOCKS HUNG


OFF OR WITH TOP DRIVE WEIGHT.

A) WITH TOP DRIVE HUNG, PUMP UP UNTIL SLIGHT WEIGHT INDICATED
THENBLEED OFF TO ZERO. WHEN PICKING UP ENSURE WEIGHT INDICATOR
READS 27 K DaN.

B) WITH TOP DRIVE ONLY HANGING IN MAST, PUMP UP TO 5/8" GAP ON


SENSATOR AND CHECK WEIGHT INDICATOR READS 27 K DaN.

C) SENSATOR SHOULD BE CHECKED PRIOR TO JARRING OR IF


EXPERIENCING TIGHT HOLE WITH EXCESSIVE OVERPULL.

THE PREFERRED METHOD FOR SENSATOR ADJUSTMENT IS METHOD "A".

METHOD "B" SHOULD ONLY BE USED IN A SITUATION WHERE IT IS


IMPRACTICAL TO HANG THE TOP DRIVE AT THE TIME.

3.2 FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE


1. HANG OFF TOP DRIVE ON BLOCK HANGING LINE.

2. CHECK WEAR IN SENSATOR PINS, AND THAT SPLIT PINS ARE IN PLACE.

3. CHECK TIE DOWN BOLTS ARE TIGHT.

4. CHECK NUT TIGHT ON LINE GUARD BOLTS.

5. CHECK NO LEAKS ON SENSATOR AND FITTINGS.

6. CHECK BOLTS ON LINE CLAMP ARE TIGHT.
