Digital Storytelling Rationale

The artifact is a digital story detailing the importance of photography as well as what

photography is able to show. Furthermore, the digital story shares components of my life and

why I enjoy photography in order to engage the audience and give them a reason to be interested

in the story. This artifact shows the standard because it uses creative expression within a digital

story to communicate knowledge about photography as well as connections within my life and

photography in order to create a finished project which shows the individual. Furthermore, it

furthered the learning outcomes in an independent setting and taught one how to create a video,

which is a design process, using pictures, voice-over, text, and transitions.

I chose this artifact because it provides a different way for student-learning and allows for

independent exploration of technology. This artifact supports the standard because it allows one

to foster a culture where students are in charge of their own learning goals. Furthermore, creating

a video involved computational thinking in order to solve technological road-blocks to finishing

the project. What I learned about my professional practice is that if I am gone and absolutely

need to make a video to teach a lesson, I am able to accomplish creating a video. Yet, I also

learned creating a video is time-consuming. Moreover, I learned how students don’t typically

know how to create videos so doing a video-based project for an appropriate age group would be

beneficial.
