ARC COMMAND

What is an ARC Command?

• AutoCAD 2007 offers you an easy way to define arcs: Just specify three
points on-screen. These points tell AutoCAD where to start the arc, how
much to curve it, and where to end it. The trouble is that you must
nearly always specify arcs more exactly than is possible by using this
method.
• You can create arcs in several ways. With the exception of the first
method, arcs are drawn counterclockwise from the start point to the
endpoint.

What are the parameters being considered in arc command?

• AutoCAD defines arcs counterclockwise, so pick a start point in a
clockwise direction from the endpoint. After you specify the center and
start point, AutoCAD presents several options you can choose,
including the following:
• Angle: This option specifies the included angle that the arc
sweeps out. A 180-degree angle, for example, is a semicircle.
• Length of chord: This option specifies the length of an
imaginary straight line connecting the endpoints of the arc. Most
people seldom or never use this option.
• Endpoint: This option specifies where the arc ends. It's the
default option and is often the easiest to use.

What are the ways of creating an ARC in AutoCAD?

1. 3P Method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Three Points
2. S,C,E method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Start, Center, End
3. S,C,A method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Start, Center, Angle
4. S,C,L method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Start, Center, Length
5. S,E,A method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Start, End, Angle
6. S,E,D method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Start, End, Direction
7. S,E,D method: Draw Arcs by Specifying Start, End, Radius
8. Draw Contiguous Tangent Arcs and Lines
9. To draw an arc using a start point, a center point, and an
endpoint
10. To continue an arc with a tangential line
11. To continue an arc with a tangential arc
Draw Contiguous Arcs and Lines

• Immediately after you complete an arc, you can start a line tangent to
the arc at an endpoint by starting the LINE command and pressing
ENTER at the Specify First Point prompt. You need to specify only the
line length.

To continue an arc with a tangential line:

1. Complete the arc.
2. Click Draw menu – Line.
3. Press ENTER at the first prompt.
4. Enter the length of the line and press ENTER.

To draw an arc using a start point, a center point, and an endpoint:

1. Click Draw menu – Arc – Start, Center, End.
2. Specify a start point.
3. Specify the center point.
4. Specify the endpoint.
ARC COMMAND PART 2

CREATING AN ARC USING 3 POINT OPTION

• This option pertains to 3 different points specified by the programmer
on the screen. There is no definite sequence about this option, the only
thing the user/programmer remember is that ALL ARCS in AutoCAD
are created in COUNTER CLOCKWISE DIRECTION

CREATING AN ARC S,C,E METHOD

1. TYPE ARC ON THE COMMAND PROMPT
2. SPECIFY START POINT OF ARC (CENTER):
3. SPECIFY THE SECOND POINT OF THE ARC (CENTER/ENDPOINT):
4. SPECIFY THE ENDPOINT OF THE ARC:

CREATING AN ARC S,C,L METHOD

1. DRAW MENU – ARC – S,C,L
2. SPECIFY START POINT OF ARC (CENTER):
3. SPECIFY THE SECOND POINT OF THE ARC (CENTER/ENDPOINT):
4. SPECIFY THE ENDPOINT OF THE ARC (ANGLE/LENGTH OF THE CHORD):

CREATING AN ARC S,C,A METHOD

1. DRAW MENU – ARC – S,C,A
2. SPECIFY START POINT OF ARC (CENTER):
3. SPECIFY THE SECOND POINT OF THE ARC (CENTER/ENDPOINT):
4. SPECIFY THE ENDPOINT OF THE ARC (ANGLE/LENGTH OF THE CHORD):

CREATING AN USING CONTINUE

1. DRAW A COMPLETE ARC
2. LOCATE THE ENDPOINT OF THE ARC AND CREATE THE DESIRED ARC
PARTS OF A FAMILY DWELLING

BASIC ROOM DESIGN

1. An efficient method of room design is to begin by making a list of all
activities that will take place in the room, as well as equipment,
furniture, space and storage space that will be required.
2. Next, cut out scale templates of all the objects, and arrange them in
the best order. Be sure to allow space and circulation and movement.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 in designing all other rooms.
4. Draw the walls after you have found the most efficient arrangement.
When all the rooms are completed, they must be fitted in a floor plan.

BASIC HOUSE PLANNING

• is concerned with the design of a residential unit with the aid of
structural stability as well as beauty and proportion.

AREAS OF THE HOUSE

1. Living Room
2. Bed Room
3. Dining Room
4. Family Room
5. Bathrooms
6. Utility Room
7. Entry Area
8. Service Area
9. Den
10. Garage
11. Kitchen
12. Storage
13. Workshop

ENTRY AREA
• The best arrangement is one in which the owner can go directly from
the front to entry to other areas. Always remember that a good traffic
circulation in a home depends on the location of the entry area. The
entrance should be recognized easily from one outside of the home
and protected from weather. Inside, the entry should have an easy
access to the living, sleeping, and service areas.

LIVING ROOM
• Living room is the center of the living area, where conversation,
viewing television, listening to music, watching the fireplace, reading,
and entertaining are enjoyed.

DINING ROOM
• The dining area can be a separate formal dining room, or a table in the
family room or kitchen. It should be located as close to the kitchen
appliances as possible. The following information should be considered
when planning the dining are:
• the type of dining area wanted
• the number of people to be seated
• and the type of furniture to be used
• It is important to allow space for circulation and chair movement.

FAMILY ROOM
• The family room is an informal living room, designed for many
activities without damaging expensive furniture. Some activities for
family room are playing games, viewing television, listening to music,
conversation, hobbies and fireplace watching. The size of the family
room will depend on the number of people in the family and their
activities.

DEN
• Although it is the part of the living area, the den maybe designed for
any area of the house. And it can serve many purposes, a reading
room, an office, a hobby area, a television viewing area, or a guest
room. The size of the den will depend on the functions it is to serve.

KITCHEN
• The kitchen must be efficiently planned. Proper placement of
refrigerator/freezer, sink and cooking appliances in relation to the
service entry and dining area is a key to efficient kitchen design.
• The first stop made by anyone entering he service door with a load of
groceries should be at the refrigerator and food storage areas.
• The second stop is the sink or counter where the food is prepared.
• The third and final stop is the cooking appliances, which should be
located as near the dining area as possible.
• There are six basic designs for kitchen and each has many variations
that will allow proper circulation while maintaining a efficient work
triangle design.
UTILITY ROOM
• Also called the laundry room, service porch, or mud-room. It functions
as a place for laundry, storage, ironing and sewing. The water heater,
heating unit are often placed in this area. This area can be small or
large depending on the services needed.

GARAGE
• The garage is primarily used to shelter the family automobile. It is also
used for bikes, freezers, laundry, workshop, storage of garden tool and
boats. Plan the garage size carefully, allowing for both automobiles and
storage items

WORKSHOP
• A home workshop can be a small table in one corner of a room or
garage, or it can be a large room complete with power tools and
special systems

BEDROOMS
• Bedrooms are designed for sleeping, dressing, relaxing and reading.
Bedroom should be located on the quietest areas of the site. Their
sizes depend on the number of people who will use them and the
amount of furniture required.

BATHROOMS
• Bathrooms must be accessible from all the bedrooms. With a small
building budget, the designer will plan for one bathroom located near
the sleeping area. Consider the following factors in planning a
bathroom:
• Style, size, fixture placement, lighting, ventilation, heating and
efficient layout of plumbing lines.

STORAGE
• A well-planned home should have a minimum of 7% of its floor
space for storage. Storage areas consists of walk-in closets,
wardrobe closets, wall closets, room dividers, free standing
storage, kitchen cabinets and outdoor storage.
