Part 3

Target audience: 20-year-old male recreational weight lifter

Objective: For my athlete to understand proper eating habits in order to have optimal energy for

and during weight lifting, and to maintain his current weight.

Time allotted: 30 minutes

Content and sequence: (approximate time)

1. Preassessment: Question my athlete on what he knows about eating healthy and why he

thinks those are healthy habits. (5 minutes)

2. Go over and explain handout of recommendations for athlete based on my calculations

(10 minutes)

a. Calorie needs

b. Fluid needs

c. Protein, carbohydrate and fat needs

3. Activity: have athlete make his own plate of food that he would consider a pre-exercise

meal and a post-exercise meal. (10 minutes)

4. Go over and review 3-day meal plan (5 minutes)

Materials Needed:

 Handout/infographic of recommendations

 Activity: piece of paper with a picture of a plate split into sections, pencil/pen

 Three day menu printed out

Evaluation/ Assessment: My evaluation of the lesson will be the activity of making his own

plate and he will make another one at the end of the session.
