Dear Mr. Hoelscher,

After completing my student teaching at the Jackson Hole Middle School in the 2019 spring
semester, I am excited to have the opportunity to continue laboring with your school and apply
for the full-time 8th grade science teaching position. My place-based and highly personalized
education experience in the Jackson area inspired me to study and peruse a career in science
education. I have acquired many opportunities to guide the active learning process while
developing professional pedagogical practices when instructing JHMS students.

As a student studying science education, my foremost role was to build character and
community when teaching, planning lessons, and developing characteristics of empathy and
morality. I worked directly with students and cooperating teachers to optimize lessons that
embraced challenges and encouraged students to take responsibility for their own learning.
Collaborating with peers in other content areas was essential in my learning to develop cross-
content strategies and projects to be used with students. I carry extensive field experience from
welcoming 30+ freshmen students to campus over four days as a CSU Ram Welcome Leader in
addition to aiding the instruction of an organic chemistry course. These experiences pushed me
to to use my exuberant personality to engage and connect with the CSU students as an
instructor. In addition to my courses and volunteer opportunities, my field experience has
imparted on me the critical knowledge and special practices of teaching.

As a novice science educator at Jackson Hole Middle School, I would bring fresh ideas and
approaches to the largely unaltered education system in efforts to increase student
achievement and wellbeing. I intend to widen and master my teaching methods through this
position as well. Thank you for taking the time to consider me for this occupation. I will reach
