your questions regarding our facilities and services. We are at your disposal from

ADDITIONAL GUESTS

We request that you inform our reservation should you invite people to visit you. Any
invitee is not allowed to sleep over without prior authorization from the Reservations
department. The maximum occupancy of an apartment should be respected.

AIR CONDITION

All apartments are air conditioned with individual control switches. In order to maximize
the efficiency of the air conditioner, it is advised to keep the dial on automatic and keep
the entrance, terrace doors and windows closed to avoid condensation. If the air
conditioning is left running with open windows, leakage will occur.

BABYSITTING SERVICES

We offer babysitting services at 300MUR per hour. However, should you wish to keep the
babysitter after midnight, you will also be responsible for bearing the additional taxi cost
of 500MUR.

BEACHES

• La Preneuse beach

Popular with locals on weekends, this beauty lies on the west coast of Mauritius. It is
known for its calm waters, a result of the lagoon that runs between the reef and the
beach. You can also explore the Martello tower which will give you a glimpse of Mauritius
naval history and specially the one of the west coast.

• Ile aux Benitier

Ile aux Benitier, is situated in one of the largest lagoon of Mauritius, right off the west
coast. This paradise island consists of a few hectares with great vibes, many hawkers
and several local huts serving lunch.

• Tamarin Bay

Famous for It’s renowned surf spot, the Tamarin bay is also known as a Dolphin
sanctuary. We encourage our guest to rent kayak or Stand up Paddles for a full
immersion in their universe while respecting their habitat. The bay is also the perfect
place to hang out on public holidays and weekends for it’s hippie chic atmosphere and
its succulent streetfood.

• Le Morne

Probably the most famous spot for Kite surfers, Le Morne has a turquoise lagoon,
beautiful fine sandy beach and a beautiful view on Le Morne mountain. There are several
food trucks but as well a nice restaurant on the beach called Emba Fillao.

BICYCLES

Bicycles are available on rental upon request and availability. Enjoy the freedom of two-
wheels to discover the village with local shops, supermarkets and banks on the right.

IMPORTANT: Please note that helmets are compulsory and using bicycles is at your own
risk. Mauritian Villas will not be held responsible for any incident/ accident caused
while using the bicycles.

KAYAK AND SUP RENTALS

Visit and explore the west coast by the sea is probably the best way to contemplate the
natural beauty of it’s surrounding. It’s not common to be greeted by our local either it’s a
Turtle, a Dolphin, a Ray and If you are more lucky a whale.

BOAT TRIPS

Various boat trips may be organized for you. Should you prefer a speed boat trip to
discover the fantastic islands, a Catamaran trip to enjoy all the beauties of our lagoon or
deep sea fishing for the more tremendous, our team will help you to access your dream.
 

BUS

The local bus goes from the west to the South, Center and North of the island and you
can expect them to go through every 30 minutes. We recommend you to use taxis for
long trips as buses are slow and stop very often but a car rental is definitely the best
solution. Contact us for bookings.

CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT

Apartments will be made available for check in as from 14:00 on the arrival day and
should be released at 11:00 on the departure day.

Should you need an early check in or late check out, it can be pre-booked at a special
rate of 75 Euros per unit. However, during the peak season (20 December to 10 January)
a full night rate will be charged to you.

In order to access this service, you can contact the Reservations department prior to
your arrival or the Resort Manager.

CONCIERGE

We invite you to go through our concierge book to discover all the aspects and services
that we have to offer to make your holidays truly unforgettable.

CREDIT CARDS

Most restaurants, supermarkets and big shops accept credit card payment. However, we
would advise you to always keep some Mauritian rupees with you for small vendors who
may not have credit card facilities available.

CURRENCIES

In Mauritius, the local currency is Mauritian rupee.

1 Euro = 40 Rupees (approximately) 25 Euros = 1,000 Rupees (approximately) To


facilitate the conversion, divide the total in Rupees by 40.

You can negotiate your price at the market and in shops however the prices in
supermarkets, commercial centres and petrol station are fixed.

ENVIRONMENT

We are very concerned about the fragile coastline environment and we discourage you to
pick anything up from the ocean; living or not. Just leave your footprints!

Water is scarce! In order to save water in the complex, please use water sparingly. We
will change towels which are left on the floor and in the bathtub only if you have a maid
service.

Let’s save energy! Ensure that doors and windows are shut when air conditioning is on.
Please switch off all the units when you leave your apartment.

EXCURSIONS

Various excursions can be organised for guests through our team. We invite you to go
through the concierge book in your apartment or contact the Resort Manager for any
questions you may have.

EVENTS

All the information on events and upcoming concerts are available on the website
www.otayo.com. Our Concierge is also available should you need any assistance.

FIRE ON THE BEACH AND FIRE CRACKERS

Please note that for security reasons, no fire is allowed to be lit on the beach. The use of
fire crackers is also prohibited.

GROCERIES

Fresh fruits and vegetables can be found at Food lovers supermarket which is opened
from 06:00 to 21:00 every day. London supermarket is open from 09:00 to 19:00

HOUSEKEEPING

Your personal housekeeper will service your apartment five days a week (excluding
Sundays and public holidays). Please note that some of our properties does not include a
house keeper though it can be booked for MUR 1500 for 4 hours.

If you require any additional service, kindly make a request before 10 am to the Resort
Manager so as to make arrangements for the following day. You may also request
housekeeping service on Sundays and public holidays for an additional cost of 850MUR
for 2hrs.

We would recommend you to respect the apartment as we are under the obligation to
charge the guests for breakages, loss of inventory or for any excessive cleaning during
your stay.
 

IN-HOUSE CHEF

Our Mauritian cook will prepare marvelous local meals for you on request which is a
very authentic way to enjoy Mauritian dishes and learn how to prepare them. Our team
will be glad to give the menu and the prices. Please note that a 24-hour notice is
necessary.

INTERNET

A complimentary wireless ADSL internet access is available in your apartment. The Wi-Fi
password is written on your internet router. Please note that internet is not as efficient
as in Europe and we seek your kind understanding.

INVENTORY

The Resort Manager has inspected the apartment prior to your arrival for the proper
functioning of all equipment and an inventory has been carried out. Should you have
any requests or comments about the functioning of equipment or the inventory stock,
kindly report to them within 24 hours of occupying the premises. If you fail to do so, we
will assume that everything is in good order.

KITCHEN

We kindly ask you not to put wine glasses in the dishwasher as damage could occur and
as such be charged to your account.

LAUNDRY

In order to preserve the aesthetics of the property, you are requested not to hang your
personal laundry on the balcony rail or in front of your unit. we suggest that you find a
discreet place to do so.

Bed sheets and towels will be handled by your housekeeper. Should you require ironing
services the cost is 150 MUR / Kg

We also provide a small drying rack facility, which you may use on your rear entrance to
dry swimming costumes, clothes and beach towels exclusively.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

On your departure, should you wish to donate any old clothes, money, toys or remaining
food to less privileged families we will be more than happy to accept them. Alternatively,
it may be kept for children’s party.
 
MASSAGE

Should you wish to relax and let yourself be pampered during your holidays, our
therapists are available for various massage to rejuvenate your body. Your massage can
be organized in your apartment or you can also book a massage at his studio.

NIGHT LIFE

Night Life essentially happens between the North and the West coast (Grand Bay and
Flic en Flac). Grand Baie offers a wide range of higher end bars, restaurants, and discos
whereas Flic en Flac tends to be more ‘popular’. You will meet mostly younger crowds of
Mauritians as well as fellow tourists. In the Tamarin area, the Big Willy’s is a pleasant
sports bar, with great foods, live bands and parties.

We advise you to be careful if you drive and consume alcohol. It is important to know
that there are lot of police patrols at night. We thus strongly recommend that you do not
drink and drive and to take a taxi if you are consuming alcohol.

In Grand Baie – Places to visit are: OMG, Banana Café, Beach House and Les Enfants
Terribles.

NOISE

Please respect other residents during your stay by maintaining sound/noise to a


reasonable level except on special occasions such as Christmas and New Year Eve’s.
Kindly inform our team in case of special occasions which may last late in the evening.
Fireworks are not allowed on the property.

PARKING

A parking space is available for each apartment.

PETROL STATION

The nearest petrol station is situated at the entrance of Riviere Noire. An attendant will
assist you, you can ask him/her for the amount of petrol you want to purchase and they
will fill the reservoir for you. We recommend that you monitor the amount on the petrol
reader before paying. If the attendant offers to clean your windscreen, it is free of charge
and tips will be at your discretion.

SAFE

A safe is available in your apartment.

• We would advise you to use the safe to keep all valuable objects like money, jewels etc.

• Ensure that your safe is closed before leaving your apartment.

• Please note that the key for the safe is not kept on site therefore it is important that
you do not forget

• We recommend you not to leave valuables lying around in the apartment, around the
pool or on the beach.

concerning any theft or loss of personal belongings and valuable

SHOPPING

Mauritius is usually depicted as a “Shopping Paradise”. Shopping in Mauritius is an


unparalleled experience and should not be missed. The island offers a range of shopping
experiences from shopping centres to duty-free shopping and even on-street shopping
(hawkers). One thing is certain, the label “Made in Mauritius” will please family and
friends.

Bringing back souvenir gifts is a must after a voyage to such a piece of paradise. It tends
to be a headache to wander around looking for the perfect souvenir but you will have a
very wide choice in Mauritius! So, please your family and friends with some exotic
products such as perfume oils or hand-made art crafts.

For lovers of unique gifts, the choice is broad. From small replicas of ship models, to
diamond rings or hand-made objects, you will surely appreciate the local art works of
our craftsmen. The ladies will obviously be dazzled by the Diamond factory where they
will surely be amazed by the skills of Mauritian craftsmen!
 
Mauritius is now known worldwide for the manufacture of class textile, unique designed
jewellery, diamonds and a wide range of hand crafts. Shopping in Mauritius offers you
very high value-for-money and turns shopping into a fascinating and pleasing
experience.

Some interesting shopping places:

• Bagatelle shopping mall (45-hour drive)

• Caudan Waterfront craft market (55 minutes’ drive)

• Cascavelle shopping mall (20 minutes’ drive)

• Quatre Bornes open air market every Thursdays and Sundays (45 minutes)

SUPERMARKETS

• London way supermarket

Open from Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 19:00

Open on Sundays and public holidays from 09:00 to 12:30

SWIMMING POOL

• In order to preserve a peaceful environment, splashing and shouting are not permitted
around the swimming pool.

• Picnics are not allowed around the pool area. Please use the beach to do so.

• We strongly advise you not to do topless exposure within the complex as it is not in the
Mauritian culture.

• All sun umbrellas should be closed after usage to avoid any breakage.

IMPORTANT: Parents/Guardians are solely responsible for their children. Owners and
Mauritian Villas will not accept any responsibility whatsoever concerning the usage of
the pool.

TAXIS

Taxis are an excellent way to get around locally but can be expensive for long trips. Taxis
in Mauritius are not equipped with a taxi meter. Please ask for the trip price prior your
departure to avoid any surprise.
 

TELEVISION

Satellite channels are available on your TV with a variety of local and international
channels. An apple TV and Netflix are also available.

BBQ

The BBQ should be used only outside and the guest should clean it after use.
