Dear City Planning Institute of Philadelphia,

When I saw your available position as a City Planning Institute Intern I was immediately
drawn to your organization. It seems like a perfect fit! As a student majoring in both
Communications and American Studies I have been interested in what ways I can utilize both of
my degrees in the future.

As a lifetime citizen of Philadelphia, I have always been interested in how this city works and
how I, as an individual, can do my part to help. I believe my education, as well as my social
interests, have prepared me very well for a position in which I can communicate, teach, and
even learn about other ways to help my city.

Having spent most of my life in Northeast Philadelphia I would be hugely interested in how
the process of zoning occurs both from an economic/industrial point of view, as well as a
residential one and how this sort of planning effects the city financially and socially. I hope that
you will consider my application especially if you are looking for an enthusiastic and well
organized student to give this opportunity to.
