Compute Jon normal process time

Table 1. Normal Process Time of Jon

Sample Standard
Average Normal
Deviation

Element 1 5.8 0.88 5.8

Element 2 2.71 0.29 2.71
Element 3 9.31 0.16 9.31
Normal process time 17.82
Standard time 17.82

Presented in Table 1, the normal process time of Jon for the three (3) elements.

It is shown that Jon Normal process time is 17.82, it indicates that Jon’s expected time

required to perform the three (3) elements at a normal pace and under normal

operating conditions is 17.82 minutes with 100% performance rating.

B. Compute Jon Job Standard Time

Table 2. Standard Time of Jon
Sample Standard
Average Normal
Deviation
Element 1 5.8 0.88 5.8
Element 2 2.71 0.29 2.71
Element 3 9.31 0.16 9.31
Normal process time 17.82
Standard time 17.82

Table 2 shows the standard time of Jon to perform the three (3) elements.

Based on the result, Jon has a standard time of 17.82 minutes. It shows that Jon can

perform the tasks or the tree (3) elements with zero (0) allowance factor for 17.82

minutes.
C. Comment on the performance of Jon

Based on the raw data given, Jon’s standard time to finish the element 1, 2 and

3 are 5, 3 and 9 minutes respectively. To determine the performance of Jon, the

manager recorded the next 14 days of Jon in the company and used it to determine

his normal process time and standard time. Result shows that Jon’s normal process

time and standard time for the three (3) elements are 5.8, 2.71 and 9.31 minutes with

100% performance rating and zero (0) allowable factor. Thus, the normal process and

standard time computed in element 1 and 3 exceeds the standard time set by the

manager. It just shows that Jon’s performance in element 1 and 3 were slightly slow,

but the manager should also consider other factor that could affect the performance

of Jon. First, manager gives 100% performance rating for Jon, it just shows that Jon

performs his job effectively. Second is the allowance factor, the manager didn’t give

an allowance factor to Jon that could give adjustments to his standard time such as

personal needs, unavoidable work delays and worker fatigue. If those factors will be

considered, Jon can be able to do his job or perform his job with the specific standard

time set by the company. As we analyze the performance of Jon for 14 days, he can

do the tasks below the standard time given for instance, in Day 4, 6, 11 and 12 of

element 1, Jon perform below the standard time of 5 minutes, it shows that without

any factors that could affect his performance, he can do the job on the normal process

and standard time effectively and efficiently.

D. How many sample size do they need?

Table 3. Sample Size Needed

Sample Standard
Average Sample size
Deviation

Element 1 3 1.54 3

Based on the raw data, out of 28 observation the computed sample size is 3 with
100% accuracy level.
