Photograph

● Image of the Niepce estate in france

● a sheet of paper coated with silver

in tone, yielding a negative image.
Origins of the term
“photography”

● 1836 made the word Photography the


action of taking pictures.
● Created from Greek roots (photos, phos,
and graphe)
● Translated to “drawing with light”
Color Photography

● The man who created it didn't release the
process until 1856
● Levi Hill invented it
● Gabriel lippmann won a Nobel prize for

Wet Collodion Process

● Valued for the detail and clarity
Dry plate photography

● Was a big advantage over the wet
collodion process
