Stroke is brain major cause of death and disability worldwide.

Mean platelet volume

(MPV) is an indicator of platelet reactivity. Platelets play an important role in the

pathophysiology of ischemic stroke Meanwhile to score severity degree can use NIHSS. This

study was descriptive with cross sectional approach. The aim is to determine representation of

MPV in severity of acute ischemic stroke based on criteria NIHSS in RSUD Arifin Acmad Riau

Province. The number was 45 subjects got from November 2016 until Marc 2017. The result

showed Normal MPV, are found in acute ischemic stroke patients with NIHSS criteria were as

many as 22 people (48.88%), a high MPV values are found in patients with ischemic stroke with

NIHSS criteria weigh as much as 3 people (6.66%). In conclusion there are representation of

MPV in severity of acute ischemic stroke based on criteria NIHSS in RSUD Arifin Acmad Riau

Province.
