● DISCUSSION: (5 minutes)
○ All of the cathedrals we looked at have rose windows, what do you notice about the windows?
○ The pieces of glass are separated by the stone structure, so you can consider darkening areas to represent that
○ What kind of shapes do you see? Colors?
○ You can choose any shapes you want and can even pick a color theme you want
○ The innovation of windows and how they changed spaces - brought light, imagery to illiterate public for
understanding
● DEMONSTRATIONS: (3 minutes)
○ Have half of CD done, finish other half in class to show students
○ Glue it on the cathedral
● DESIGN/WORK SESSION: ( 20 minutes)
○ If you aren’t sure what design you want to do yet, go ahead and draw some different ideas on a sheet of paper
○ You can start by mapping out with one color, or coloring as you go
○ You can use a ruler to make your lines straight if desired
○ Make it personal to you by adding symbols that represent aspects of yourself just as you did with the exterior
○ When you finish your CD, glue it in the spot you left open for it
○ Finish up any details you didn’t get to on your facade
● CLEAN UP: (3 minutes)
○ Return sharpies
○ Put finished products in a pile with name on the back
○ If you still need to work on it, put it in a different pile
● CLOSURE: (3 minutes)
○ How did windows like the ones we created influence architecture?
○ Think about how the spaces you are in everyday would be different without windows
○ See if you notice more about all of the architecture around you as we learn more about it
