Activities

This week activities

Place all the big components on the module PCB

(Place the components the way, that they will use simple and short connections. Think about how the most important interfaces will be routed. Place all the
output and input capacitors for the power supplies. Try to t all the components into the size of the original design. Lock down important components.)
Download the project les for this activity here

Do preliminary placement under the CPU

(Go trough the schematic pages and nd all the components which need to be placed close to or under the processor. Look for decoupling capacitors, crystals,
beads, precise or zero ohm resistors. You do not need to worry about the exact position of the components. At this stage we want to know if all the
components will t into the area.)
Download the project les for this activity here

Do connector placement for the Baseboard

(Go through all the connectors and place them on the board.)
Download the project les for this activity here

Do placement of the rest of the components for the module

(Choose 2 CPU schematic pages, browse through them and place all the components from these pages.)
Download the project les for this activity here

Do placement of the switching power supplies

(Place all the components for a particular power source. If you are not sure how to place a component, nd layout recommendation for the chip.)
Download the project les for this activity here
EASY: Place all the components for the +3V0_ALWAYS power supply.
ADVANCED: Place all the components for the +1V375 and +3V3 power supply controller.
EXPERT: Place components for all the power supplies on the board.
Do component placement for the baseboard
Download the project les for this activity here
EASY: Place all the chips
ADVANCED: Place all the chips and big capacitors. Go through the schematic pages and place components like LEDs, testpoints, dutials.
EXPERT: Place all the components
Power distribution
(Open the module / baseboard PCB and inspect how the current is distributed. Look for the required current of the peripherals and check if the power sources
can deliver these values.)

Voluntary activities

During this voluntary activity, you can work on your own project. If you dont have one, you can use our iMX6 Rex baseboard schematic and cut it down
to leave the interface you would like to practise (e.g. leave PCIE, GbE, SATA, LVDS, HDMI). Import components into your PCB. Think about how your
nal board will look and how the user will work with it. Place all the components on your board. Make the board as small as possible.

Certi cate
Everyone who is interested to get the certi cate:

Make at least one screenshot from the work you have done this week (ideally 3-5 screenshots)
Upload it here

Note: It is not required, that you do all the activities to get your certi cate. Practise the areas which you nd the most challenging.
