1. Encourage discussion of animals in the desert in this unit.

1. Ask the learners to look at the photo on the previous page and describe the wolf, then talk about
the issues the wolf is facing.
2. read the text with learner ,then Ask the learners to read the text again and summarize it in pairs.

3. Learners share what they talked about with the class.

Learners work in pairs and write the questions for the answers about Arabian wolves. 1 How many
Arabian wolves are there left? 2 Where do they live?
3 When did they live in the UAE?
4 What did the wolves eat?

5 Why did the farmers kill the wolves?

Independent Experience (small group activity )

Read: Activity 1

1. Write the first statement on the board: The Arabian wolves live in the Middle East., Ask the learners: Is
this true or false? Do you remember?

2. Learners work in pairs to try and remember whether the statements are true or false, and then they check
their answers in the text on page 36.

Talk: Activity 2

1. Ask learners to look at the photos and think about the animals in danger.

2. In pairs, they should think of two more examples of animals at risk.

Closing

1- Direct learners’ attention to the self-evaluation question at the bottom of page 37 in the

Assessment

Ask learners to read the text again to find out what Arabian wolves eat, and then draw a picture of their food.
