Jump Seeks out Student Groups to Fund for 2019

Jump, the offical crowdfunding platfrom at Virginia Tech, seeks out student groups who need fund-
ing. Jump helps raise money for particular causes that support UT Prossim mission. Applications
are open and student groups are encouraged to apply. The application will close Thursday, Nov.
8.

Jump raised $192,224 for past projects. Susan Gill, the director of Jump is hoping more students
will apply for funding. “Student groups can reach a larger audience through crowdfunding because
it targets online donors,” said Gill. “These donors may be outside of the organizations netork.”

Student Groups Who Successfully Used Jump:


- The Big Event 2018 raised $2,125 for tools and supplies
- Men’s Lacrosse raised $6,540 to travel to the national championship tournament
- The LGBTQ+ resource center raised $6,275 for student leaderhsip scholarships

Projects that Will be Considered:


- Scholarships
- Travel
- Athletics
- Resarch
- Participation drives
- Other projects will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
Jump is the official crowdfunding platform at Virginia Tech. The organizations mission is to bring
together students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends to maximize a joint impact for good.

Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of money
from a large number of donors. This is usually advertised on online platforms. Donors are typically
a related group of people who can be specifically targeted.
