WEEK OF DECEMBER 10 , 2018

We emphasize the spiritual,
intellectual, and physical
development of each
individual.
Our Christmas Party is this week on Thursday,
December 13 @ 1:30. Students should just bring a small lunch or
snack for lunch. We will provide pizza, drinks, veggies with dress-
ing, nachos and dessert for the party. It will be held in the cafeteria.
Students may bring board games on that day to play while we are
setting up for the party.
Please let me know if you did not receive the e-mail regarding the
attire for the program. I am very excited about our selection!

MATH ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

Students will use estimates to
help them add and subtract with 3
or more digits. We will also emphasize the 3
times tables through flash cards, wrap arounds
and games. There will be a quiz on the 3’s at
the end of this week. Please practice the three
times tables from 0-12 this week.
Please practice their basic addition and sub-
traction facts with them. They will need to
have a good grasp of these facts in order to do
well in adding and subtracting greater num-
bers and regrouping. Tutoring for math is
available on Mondays from 3:30-4:30.
This week’s spelling unit has words with di-
graphs and blends. In language, we will focus
on verbs, complete sentences and kinds of
sentences, proofreading and writing. In read-
ing, students will be working on main idea
and author’s purpose. We have begun a new
theme this week Inspired by the Sea. Stu-
dents have completed Sarah, Plain and Tall
and we will begin reading Dogs of the Sea.
Students will also work on reading informa-
tive selections. Probe books are due on Tues-
day, December 18. Tutoring for reading is
available on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30.

HANDWRITING
Students will continue working on upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.
This will include how to form the letters and their connections.
 SCIENCE-This week students will identify inner and outer plan-
ets as well as describe comets and asteroids. They will be learn-
ing about a future research project about the planets.
RELIGION-Students will learn about what the Church teaches
about social justice. This week’s Word of the Week is expecta-
tion-strong belief something will happen or be the case in the
future. This Week’s Good News comes from Luke 3:15-16a.
SOCIAL STUDIES-This week students will learn about different
kinds of communities: urban, suburban and rural. They will also
be learning about the compass in map skills and work with
scale on maps.

REMINDERS
The only drop off is on Stanton Street. The Arizona parking lot is not a
drop off. Parents need to park and walk students to the school at the
crosswalk if they are using the parking lot. The lot behind the gym and
the church is also not to be used to drop off students. Thank you, in ad-
vance, for your cooperation!
We are collecting Price’s bottle caps and Box Tops for Education. Please
help us out by sending these items in when you purchase milk or other
products with box tops for education.
We are also collecting soda pop tops. Please send those in when you
have the opportunity.
