We had Mr. Arnie Juguilon who works as an engineer here in Yokohama as a

There’re more than 7,000 islands in the
Philippines. Three main areas such as Luzon area in the North, Sebu and Visayas area and the Southern part, Mindanao have their original festivals. Mr.Juguilon picked up 10 festivals and introduced us the area, the meaning, how and when to celebrate. Ati-atihan Festival of Kalibo, Aklan in Panay Island, townsfolk dress themselves in aboriginal clothes and deck their bodies with weapons. Then, they perform tribal dances in the honor of Santo Niño (Infant Jesus). The Carabao Festival of Pulilan in Bulacan is a day of respect for Saint Isidore the Worker. People decolate their work companions, the carabaos or water buffalos and parade with them. . Many other festivals were introduced with the short videos. All of them were brightly decorated, happy and fun. Audience said they felt as if they traveled to the Philippines and joined the festivals. The lecture gave us a new aspect of the Philippines.
